Emily Schubert 6'4"

Well they can either take Schubert, go after a Juco Post or go after a transfer graduate that will be eligible to play immediately.

Apparently Taya Reimer will be transferring from Notre Dame this summer after she graduates.

Hope we get her.

With Schubert's grades, she would probably do very well playing basketball at a good D III program in the NESCAC Conference. Tufts, Amherst, Williams, Middlebury. They are all great academic schools that might be better fits for her academically and basketball-wise.

in the small amount of video I've seen of her, Schubert seems to run just fine. And hit her layups, FT's and shots from top of the key.

imho, she is worth a scholly. If she flames out after 2 years she can be sent packing.

maybe Tyler will grab another big girl from right under Holly's nose...
I'm not trying to be mean.... Just critical of who is worthy of playing for the lady Vols.... With that being said, last Friday night they played science hill which is one of the two biggest schools in East Tennessee and we (elizabethton) beat the hell out of them. Schubert had 2 yes 2 rebounds in that game!!!! 2 rebounds. That is absolutely horrible. I counted numerous missed layups on open cuts underneath. She is a big body and maybe she can be taught better but all she is for elizabethton is a big body.

This young lady is a 3 star. I noticed Genno signed one three star post. There are a total of 5 left u signed. Apparently we are not geared to train a player unless they come in ready made. There are a lot of programs that have signed three stars and made them stars. I do not think this program can be successful just trying to sign 5 stars. We have 7 five stars and we are not exactly setting the world on fire. Our players have not made a tremendous step up since they became Lady Vols.

I don't think rebecca lobo was a 5 star out of hs.

She was a consensus All-American and Blue Star's No. 1 post prospect coming out of Southwick-Tolland HS, averaging 37 points and 20 rebounds per game her senior year.

Emily Schubert, a 6-4 post in the upper East Tennessee town of Elizabethton, could have made a college decision last fall, but she opted to wait until the regular signing period. Schubert’s game plan was to use her senior season to get better and hopefully attract additional colleges. "I wanted to see what all of my options were and wait and see what happens," Schubert said. "Depending on how I played throughout the season, I thought I might get more interest."

...When asked to evaluate her strengths, Schubert noted her ability to run, block shots and pass to teammates. Elizabethton plays a four-out, one-in offense, so Schubert is used to drawing the attention of the defense and finding open players, especially the three-point shooters. "As far as some of my weaknesses, I need to develop more into a post player," she said. "I haven’t really had the post coaching that some of these girls have had. I am going off athletic ability."

Not every player, even some 5 stars are not completely ready for the college game, especially at the D1 level. You need a good post coach, if possible one who played the position at a high level. If you are going to play at a high level you need good athletic post players unless you have an undersized athletic team with superior rebounding and blocking abilities. You also need to be able to identify raw talent and the possibilities. Since I have not noticed a great improvement in our players that have been on board for two or more years, it would appear that this coaching staff lacks the ability to take their players to the next level.

It is plain and simple, If this coaching group can only coach 5 stars, which is questionable at best, we need to accept the fact that we are as good as we are going to get. Apparently other top programs have the ability to coach lesser stars with major upsides. In the end Holly needs to improve, or find coaches that can cover up her weaknesses, or face reality that she has failed, or be fired. If we are going to get better one of the previous has to happen, and quickly.

so, Schubert is used to a 4 in 1 out offense, ya mean like the one Tn played to good effect when graves was out to injury? well duh!

This game is not "Hard" Holly, you just play with and to your teams strengths. Not to a system rooted in 1979

Sounds like we should be looking at the twin that shot 6 three pointers.

The Marosites twins signed with ETSU. Kayla is an excellent athlete and outstanding shooter who is talented enough to play for the LVs, IMO, but she & Kelci were determined to sign somewhere as a package deal.

15 points and 13 rebounds for Schubert is not just dog meat. Look at our 2016 recruiting class of post players, I am sure that Schubert would be the best of the lot. Man up and take a chance, I doubt if this young lady would be any worse than when Moore came to our program. On the twins Holly is once again slow on the trigger. Anyone think that maybe Holly knows Dolley about judging talent but just how to count number of stars?

"Emily Schubert played a key role in the comeback, and eventually finished with 15 points, 13 rebounds and three assists."

“I think we just believed in ourselves, and we came out and played as hard as we could,” said Schubert, whose performance came in front of college scouts from Duke, Tennessee, Wake Forest, Vanderbilt and William & Mary. "
