Amazing times where people argue a government official can just award himself government money, but such is the ethos of RedHat America.
Trump doesn't even try to hide his grifting of America anymore, he does it for all to see and the Cult of Trump looks the other way. Trump's sleaziness and corruption know no bounds.

Amazing times where people argue a government official can just award himself government and foreign government money, but such is the ethos of RedHat America.

The one good thing about Donny is he's revealed the true Machiavellian nature of the McConnell-led GOP. It's about power and maintaining it.

WTH said Trump was any different?

WTH does that matter, it's still profiting from the office?

It's a bad look for him and Doral should not be hosting the summit but when you break it down it's no different than his predecessors.
Drain the swamp! He's not a politician! All those cries made him it to be different. No doubt the election threads on here from that time are full of that crap. It was one of his biggest campaign planks

I was asking if anyone had directly granted themselves a govt payment/contract/gift while in office. Coming from an outside source is different than directing govt money to your personal business

Supposedly it's being held "at cost" so it should be easily verified through an audit and I'm sure as the day is long someone will audit the accounting of the summit. So let's see what they find out before we get our panties in a wad over him making money off of it.

I have stated that this is a bad look for him and it shouldn't be held at his resort but if he isn't making money off of it then there is no laws broken.

He's refused to turn over any of his financial records ever, but now he's going to open up the books so we can have an audit of this.

Right.

Furthermore, what does "cost" even mean at a resort? Even if it were a break-even proposition, that would still put the place better off than the alternative--losing money with bunch of empty rooms during the off season.

Velo, the financials from this summit would be subject to FOIA. Use your damn head.

And what financial records has he been required to turn over that he has refused? I'll wait.

That still would disregard the intangible advertising/goodwill (LOL).

Such a great leader, intentionally doing things soley to piss people off that don't bend the knee. Sound governing tactic. Very cool.

Sure is. It definitely brings the idiocy and hypocrisy of dims to the forefront.

How do you determine what the resort's costs were from the government's records? You can only determine what the government paid.

I don't know. I'm sure there will be lawsuits involved that will get the clubs accounting for the summit. Hell they might just hand them over.

I robbed a bank this morning, but I do it all the time, so it is not a crime and very legal. Get over it.

He's always operated under the philosophy that any press is good press, but I think he is starting to see the fallacy in that belief.
His "brand" has taken significant hits.
His name is poison to the majority, but I guess he can still continue to fleece the 36 percenters.

His revenue will skyrocket when he leaves office whether it be Jan 2021 or Jan 2025.
