Not trying to start some long debate about how bad offensively we are or predict how we'll get drilled against other teams on our schedule but just stating that I wish more Vol fans would enjoy the wins we receive. Talking to folks on the boards here and then Vol fans in general, it's like people forgot how to enjoy wins or something. WCU isn't cutting down any nets or anything but they did hold one of the best three point shooting teams in the country and everyone else on their schedule under 30 %. They've played some tough teams and have been in every single game this season and a majority of those were in their gyms. I aint saying we don't struggle on offense because we do at times but our defense is so solid and consistant that this alone will keep us in every single game this year. Offense will come. Stokes barely missed a double double last night and even with Golden having one of the worst shooting nights, he still managed 10 points from being solid from the ft line, had 4 assist and only 1 turnover.

I'm just saying we got our 7th win of the season and played another solid game on defense. We've managed to win every game most fans thought we would besides one (Virginia) so I don't understand why so many people are frustrated. This is A LOT better than last season when we were dropping games to these mid major teams.

One of the best things that happen when our normal fire power on offense struggles is you get to watch other people step up and grow. Perfect example is Josh Richardson. He's gone from our best lock down defender to someone that's looked hungry getting to the rim. This guy is attacking loose balls and going hard for rebounds. Super proud of this kid and really hope he continues to improve his offensive game. Also, even though he barely logged any minutes last night because of the return of Hall, Yemi continues to get better. It's these kinds of slumps that's going to make us a better team down the road. I'm just happy we can log some wins while learning because I still expect this team to make the tournament and do some damage in the SEC this season.

Enjoy the win guys! We're on our first 3 game winning streak of the season and have a chance to be 9-3 before SEC play. Pretty awesome when you think about Maymon going down. :hi:

My guess is the lot of peeps want to see a fun and gun 100 mph offense. Missing most of your shots doesn't help the excite factor.

Thank you kindly sir! We could be Vanderbilt (5-5 with loses to Oregon, Davidson, Marist, Nova and MTSU) What a train wreck this season is for them. Speaking of MTSU, that's the second SEC team they've knocked off. They beat Ole Miss earlier in the season as well.

Yup. I think that's a lot of the problem. Too much of a Bruce Pearl hangover or something. Until people realize our offense is not ran to score 100 points a night, they'll be really sad. I'd be happy with a game in single digits as long as the other team has a point less than us when the clock hits 0. :)

If everyone will be honest here is the reality of team sports. Average or slightly above average teams tend to play as does its competition. In other words, play a sloppy team and you tend to play sloppy. Play a good team like Wit. State and your level of play increases considerably. However, excellent well coached teams tend to play good regardless the level of competition. Here is hoping that we tend to play to our capabilities when we hit SEC play.l

I've always thought any win is a good win. I'm not sure about that any more with this team.

Celebrations should be had in BO country, because it was a win. Just don't look at the box score. Time for presents and food and couch time before the next game.

Something to think about.....

At this time last season....

4-6
Loses to Duke and Memphis in Maui, @ Oakland and Charleston and home loses to one of the worst Jamie Dixon coached Pitt teams I've seen and Austin Peay.

And our first road win of the season didn't come until February and some still had us on the bubble. We'll be fine.

Beat Oakland this season - thats is another improvement

The Oakland team that we beat by 27 just lost at West Virginia by 5. This WV team is not as good, but I think Oakland will compete very well in their conference.

I've always thought Men's NCAA B-ball has more parity (middle-top) than any other major sport. Some people lose their joy button, for whatever reason.

We won, my friends and I had beer, and had a good time. On to the next one.

Last year I took Oakland and their spread 16 total times. I went 12-4. Year in, year out, they are underrated as a good basketball team.

Many guys are out there that can play ball and on all levels, which is why so many teams can compete with bigger schools. In hoops, one guy can take over or get hot and carry an entire team. There are more tall players now than ever. More slashers, more shooters, more dunkers. Just fewer that are taught or know the game and how its played.. There are many players that choose a small school due to many reasons over sharing time at a large school or getting lost in the rotation. You watch WC, and their ballhandling was better than ours at every position. Tight games are going to happen more than ever, across the board. It's been leaning that way for years. I don't have an issue with that.
Yes, happy with a W.
Walking it up, not moving on O, not cutting, and lack of ballhandling and spacing are fair game to analyze and be concerned with and are not fun to watch. I can watch a tough fought L. I won't like an L from standing around and lack of offensive effort and aggressiveness, which will happen soon.
