Thanks for sharing Larry. Fuad and Coleman had very good games, and it was great seeing Bates apply the hit that sealed the victory.

that was Lee Jenkins if you are talking about the pass breakup in endzone.

Was checking out some of your other videos, Larry, and ran across this one:

1979 Majors Show after Notre Dame Game - YouTube

This was before my time, but I'm astounded at how old Majors looked in 1979...and he was only 44 at the time!

He's younger than CBJ in that video but looks 20 years older.

he probably had done some celebrating prior to doing the show. the film is very old and technology much different back then

I was there in section W row 48...forgot what seat I was in.

Getting old stinks!

Thanks for sharing.

Me too...both on being there (this one put The Bear 6 feet under)...and on being O-L-D...

You're right. The goal posts definitely came down that day.

I helped carry it down Cumberland to the Old College Inn...

You heard that roar? Two of those voices were me and my then-fiancee. Now our legacy players include another Jenkins and another Bates!

Best I remember the goal post came down that day but that was a long time ago. GO VOLS

Yep. I was there that day. We were sitting in the End Zone on the strip when they marched in carrying a piece of the goal post that night.

Thanks for including the halftime show, Larry. I found my blurry, youngish face in there. :)

Keep in mind...that win ended an 11 game losing streak to the Tide.

Past 6-8 yrs is very similar to the mid 70s to early 80s

Yep, we carried them to Clement Hall, then they made their way to the strip where KPD blocked traffic while a group tried to break the posts in half using a telephone pole for leverage.

Fun day.

I was working a keg (in more than one way) below the stadium in the 1982 World's
Fair that day. It was LOUD! I remember all these people walking around w/ t-shirts that read 'The Bear Beats Off' - seriously. I was about lit by the end of the game. I could almost tell the game score from the crowd noise.

Why on earth can't we hire one of the best coaches of their era? I pray CBJ is successful. But dang, bama's ADs are like wizards with some of these hires.

I don't know...It was almost "the blind squirrel finding a nut" for Bama's ADs. How many coachs did they burn though between CGS and CNS?

I was working at the World's Fair that day. I was working in the house on 11th street closest to Bridge Ave. You could hear the Vol faithful cheering like you were inside the stadium. It was awesome!

Remember listening to this game in my 1979 Chevy pick-up AM radio only driving home from work.
I know some of the young ones on here have know concept of AM only radio.
Man I`m getting old too.
