The hiring of Butch Jones is an EPIC FAIL!

Dave Hart and Jimmy Cheek have done a serious disservice to each and every Volunteer fan, young and old alike! You can also include any big $$$$ boosters who supported this hire into the previous sentiment. The Athletic Department, namely Dave Hart, has made a mockery of the University of Tennessee football program.

I cannot wait until the true story about this hiring starts to leak out to the media. I have no confidence that the Knoxville Sport's Media will investigate what took place in the dark of night this a.m. after Tarzan was was all but "signed, sealed and delivered". However, I do believe that a certain writer in Chattanooga will blow this story wide open! I sincerely hope that he has the moxy to step up to the plate and bring the truth to light for all Vol fans to see.

We the fans have been short-changed by the AD (and whatever donors were involved) once again. We have been presented with a lack-luster hire. UT could have had filet mignon but instead the AD has forced horse meat on us. I for one will not support this Administration nor will I support this football hire! Frankly, I question Dave Hart's motive; his ego proceeds him in a room and his buffoonery rivals that of the recently dismissed Derek Dooley!

Wake-up Vol fans.... Dave Hart just hired the guy who was Derek Dooley's signature win!!! This is simply unreal - Vol fans we do not have take this laying down. We must let the UT Administration, the UT Athletic Department, and any boosters who supported this hire know that we do not support them nor this hire!!!

The hire was decent...the fan base looks awful and is feeding every stereo type about us and SEC fans now.

I am also disappointed about not getting the home run hire we all hoped for, and I understand the anger and embarrassment of how the hiring process reeked of incompetence. Hart and Cheek need to go. But Butch Jones is now our coach whether we like it or not, so if you're a Vol fan, let's support our team and coach and give him a chance.

Wait til the news start coming out about how this went down and what we could have had!!!!

The hire is done but the story is far from over and rest assured it will be brought to light. The media has already reported that Jones got an offer "late" in the night!

I was an avid supporter of Gruden but this is pathetic. Support the damn coach and let's see what he can do. I'm more fed up with the fans than I am the AD.

His offense averaged 200 rushing yards a game. If that is what the spread brings to Tennessee I am all for it. The only "epic fail" to this is the reaction from a portion of the fan base. You need to get over it and move on ... the coaches that was pushed so hard by the fan base did not want to coach for you.

So why did you waste all this time posting here,when you could be telling another team forum why you'd be a great addition to their fan base. Oh and no lengthy farwells,just leave.

IF he can get us sniffing the top tier of the SEC again than I will take that spread offense (although I think he needs to adopt to the SEC smashmouth ways). If we are sniffing, than we will have more to choose from later.

First off, to you who say that we just hired Dooley's Signature Win...go back and watch the game!!! We only won that game because we had the bigger guns...Cincy was out of gas half way through the 3rd quarter and had not the talent to keep up.

Next, on to the hire itself...who cares how it got done, it got done...period. Did we get teh "homerun" hire that everyone was wanting...probably not, but look around in today's football atmosphere, who does get a "homerun hire"?...Brian Kelly wasn't ND's first or second choice, last year everyone thought Florida had missed with Muschump...teh last real "homerun hire" I can think of by any university would be saban to Bama...and l;ook at what that has cost them.

Last, my biggest problem wiht the hire was the process...I think Dave hart and company tried to make the process to open and to public. I would be interested in knowing how many offers Gruden, Gundy, etc. actually get each year at this time...there are coaches out there that everyone just is going to reach out to...you have to. My problem is Hart made it to public, so UT looked like it was missing on every person they called.

I would bet that UC would have given it to us this year... People seem to forget that this was when Bray, DaRick and Hunter all looked amazing.

Ya getting 200 rush yards a game versus those tough big east defenses... Lol it is the SEC. I see him being a 7-5 or 8-4 coach but I don't see him winning any sec titles but hopefully he will prove all of us wrong
