Eric Berry's Brothers

"Yes, I committed to Tennessee," Evan said. "It's the only college I know right now and it seems the best for me. My dad went there and my brother is there now. I know I can do the same things there. I have a real friendly relationship with the coaches there. I know I don't know them too well but I know I will have plenty of time to get to know them.

"I want to play in the secondary and I want to play for coach (Monte) Kiffin."

"Right now Elliot favors LSU. He really likes their track program," Evan said."

I wonder if Monte Kiffin will still be the DC then?

And does Elliot not know about the rich championship history that UT track has?

No matter what the future has in fold for Monte I think we have a damn good shot at getting atleast one if not both.
All they have to do is look at their older brother. For one he is almost gaurenteed going in the first round of the draft and if your a fan of TN football you see him as more of a symbol right now of our program than Lane Kiffin (Sorry Lane, he has been here longer)
I would think those two things would be seen as a pretty big deal even if you havent hit high school yet.

the talent you can see within the county is crazy. The other counties are starting to catch up, i could see in the future an inter county championship.

A lot of young sprinters/football players are enamored with Trindon Holliday right now. I coach a kid that runs some for the Memphis Mustangs and he and his friends are all about Holliday and LSU track. They are known for the sprinters, but they rarely turn out any jumpers, which is what I follow.

That said, there's always some track/football athlete that comes along and gets the kids in T & F circles pumped about him. It'll pass.

Justin Hunter who's going to LSU and some kid whos going to Texas are both going to change that. One of the best High Jumpers and Long Jumpers respectively in the country. IIRC the kid from Texas had a distance that would have won him the NCAA Title...as a junior in HS

Hunter's PR is like a 7'1" or 7'2". He's got to be thinking football 1st when it comes to LSU. I can't remember hearing anything about any kid jumping well at LSU. I saw a clip of some guy jumping at the WW Classic. He only went like 6'1.

I assume the Texas kid you're talking about is Goodman? Just jumped a 26'10.

Reggie Allison is a kid dominating the triple jump right now. I think he's the kid that went 25' last year in the long jump at the JR olympics as well.

Elliot Berry won the 200M last year at the JR olympics. My, how we come full circle!

You a track guy, Burger?

Does anyone else feel weird that we are seriously discussing the ins and outs of the decision-making by 13 year olds?? Like I said in another post, lets hope they learn how to shave and can interact with girls enough to get a prom date before we start questioning their college decisions!!!

If it were any other 13-year-olds - then yes - but these are Eric Berry's twin brothers. Eric Berry.

Nah, I'm not a big track guy, those are just two guys I've heard Texas and LSU fans talk about quite a bit. Didn't Evan Berry get 2nd place in the 200m or something at the same place? For some reason that seems to stick out to me.
