Eric Gordon

Sorry if this has already been mentioned on this thread, but I saw some clips of Gordon on the news last night, and he looks REALLY small. Isn't he almost too small for SEC competition? I mean, he looked like the smallest kid on the team almost. I know it's not always size that counts, but as I don't know that much about him, is it his speed or something, or what?

He should be able to compete/start from day one. He's that good. Grades will be an issue so I wouldn't be surprised to see him at Hargrave or even a C.C.

Dennis Rogan's not that big. Nor are the florida guys. It comes down to if you can play or not.

I heard two Bama fans call in this morning to 560 am here in nashville and say that Bama didnt really want this kid anyway. I always find it funny when fans do this.
Im not gonna lie or BS I was pissed when Hightower and Jordan went to Bama, and Bullard commited to ND. Could have used all of them.
Just wanted to mention that.

Kinda like we did with Giles?

This was a statement commitment for a coach who says he wants to make recruiting in-state kids a priority. Several experts are already saying that 2010 will be the best and deepest group of Tennessee prospects ever. The Vols are going to be positioned to sweep 'em up.

As for the test scores, Gordon goes to the only non-magnet, public H.S. in Metro that is worth a fart and I am sure they can help him get to where he needs to be.

Hillsboro may be the best besides Hume Fogg and MLK, but that's not saying much. Hillsboro has the typical effort-absent public school kids just like any other school.

When it comes to the recruiting scene, all schools have negative-reacting fans such as you're describing. I suspect most of 'em just started shaving. When they grow up they'll have a better perspective on the forces and loyalties that can pull on an 18-year-old, and be more understanding.

In a premium video on rivals that was just released, he says he likes to have the ball in his hands. He also says that he doesn't care about any individual awards he just wants to win a championship.

Would be nice to see a UT recruiting class that doesn't have half of the guys fail to qualify and never set foot on campus. Would be a nice change.

Tennessee further secured its position with commitment Eric Gordon.
“It was great,” the 5-foot-9, 185-pound cornerback from Hillsboro High School said Sunday following his official visit this weekend. “Anybody can tell you they have a great coaching staff but they do. When you get up there, it’s hands on. All the coaches from the NFL, they’re there for a reason.”
Gordon said he was most impressed with the instruction from UT’s coaches, a preview of how he’ll be coached.
“They let you know what you’re going to do, when you’re going to do it and how you’re going to do it,” Gordon said. “Everything we did was treated top of the line.”
Gordon committed to UT shortly after Lane Kiffin was named coach on Dec. 1. Gordon also considered Oklahoma, Miami and Alabama.
Gordon, who is the brother of former Mississippi State basketball player Jamont Gordon, is the News Sentinel’s sixth best prospect in the state.
