ESPN gameday blaming refs for TN win

Yeah, I'm genuinely perplexed what "terrible officiating" they're referring to. The 2 early ones on Plavsic were called as was the later high elbow. Aidoo no-call on the inadvertent elbow during rebound was correct. There have been poorly officiated games. This was not it.

The only egregious miss I remember was over-turning Roach's 5th foul. Vescovi was also getting held and slapped all game, but only called once.

Aidoo was the one that got fouled. He had position, went up and got the rebound, and the Duke player didn't give him room to land.

Bilas, who was the best college basketball analyst in the game by far, has become absolutely obnoxious. He bought into his own hype and has become such a Duke homer he has ruined his credibility.
This why Bilas is butt sore

a Duke alumnus, it’s no surprise that Bilas has the Blue Devils making the national championship game. They won the ACC Tournament on Saturday and earned a No. 5 seed, so they’ll have to pull off a few upsets to get there.

As to the original question...
I think it's to our ongoing favor that tough defense is part of our team identity. We have played this way all season, for the most part successfully, and done it before refs from other conferences, on others' home courts, and in tournament play--not just before SEC refs.

Now, if physical play was something we had pulled out of our hats for one game in order to compete against an otherwise superior team, that would (properly, IMHO) not stand.

But at the Sweet Sixteen level of The NCAA Tournament, the refs would become the story if they took away a team's season-long identity, which got them into the tournament--and not as some 16th seeded afterthought.

Spot On. Bilas is just a whiner and has to make excuses for his team's loss. Yes, the Vol's played a physical brand of defense, but in no way was it "dirty".

I just hope that all of this national press about UT
playing too “ rough “ doesn’t elicit a bunch of whistles
against us the rest of the way.
