That’s what results from one of the biggest choke jobs in our program’s history, but I’m glad we went unmentioned. All we would’ve heard was the usual stuff anyway - probably for the best.
Depending on what we see tonight against Vandy, I’m still feeling bullish about the future. It just sucks that we had so much more to play for and pulled a disappearing act. I try to keep in mind that are probably still a year or so away from being ready for that big of a step from a mental perspective.
However, one thing that bothers me today is the news that South Carolina beat Clemson. This is a classic case of us giving a divisional foe hope when we could have stomped on their throats to keep them in the gutter. Instead, we fold against the Gamecocks and - a week later - they knock off a Clemson team that has been overrated all year but whose current “profile” as a program remains high visibility. Minus our choke job against them, I don’t know if they win against Clemson . . . and if they still do, it would seem like more of a fluke and have less momentum-building potential for them. That is not a good South Carolina team that us and Clemson made look like world beaters (especially us).
The Vols need to use all of this as fuel to take out a can of whoopa$$ on our opponents next year.
