Espn did another segment on UT BB. They said they asked Meyer who is now an anal ist for them and he shared that according to the standards the ncaa wants to set they have to make UT fire him and then the ncaa must ban him from coaching. He said they cannot have no standard on things like this if they want to clean up college sports. He sahred they cannot be hard on athletes and not on coaches. That there is a difference in breaking rules on accident but when you flat out lie you should get as close to a death penalty as possible. Now I was pissed when I heard it came from quitter cryer. But aside from that I do agree with what is being said. They have to have a scare tactic to keep it balanced because you cannot find all the bad stuff going on so you have to have it there.

Kind of funny to go to Urban Meyer when you need a comment about how severely to punish someone.

No kidding.

And, I cannot believe how badly Pearl and his staff tripped over themselves and fell apart over being questioned about a cookout. And, I further cannot believe how expensive that cookout has turned out to be; nor can I believe the constant piling on.

Bruce has become the sport's #1 villain over a cookout.

I think the problem was that he was already being watched and the lie about the cookout was the rope the NCAA needed.

That's light compared to what Dan Dakich and Jimmy Dykes said last night on the scoreboard show. I'm pretty sure that at one point Dakich called for Pearl to be drawn and quartered.

Now if Wormie Liar was giving pointers on how to quit or how to suspend a player for pregame then it might be interesting.

As much as Pearl deserves just about everything being hurled at him, some of these guys come off a little to forcefully about it as if all the viewers are stupid and don't know how dirty college basketball recruiting is. They run the risk of coming off as pious as they accuse Pearl of being in some cases.

That's not what Dakich and Dykes were saying last night. They were simply saying that while there's plenty of nefarious stuff going on, people in the business know who the real scum are. Dan then launched into his call for the permanent banning of Bruce Pearl. I don't think it's hard to read between the lines there to see what I've been saying on here for years about Pearl's standing among his peers is accurate.

I'm not going to defend what Pearl did to get himself here.

I'm just going to point out that this sounds like an attempt to re-blacklist him. I don't think the piling on would be this thick if it were someone else. A lot of the people casting stones are doing exactly what they hate Pearl for doing. I can't believe Urban Meyer is opening his mouth. Is he for real?

That's exactly what it is. Guess what? It's going to work and Pearl has nothing but his own actions over the last two decades to blame.

If that's the result, then UT should have never self-imposed anything. UT should have cut his pay and let business proceed as usual and then fire him after the season when there will be more candidates.

Should have thought about this before they started allowing paying coaches millions of dollars in multi year contracts.

Could be but I doubt it. I am starting to think that this is just the thing he got caught at. The descriptions in the NOA suggest to me a pattern of breaking the rules and getting away with it.
