No it's not because people are stupid, it's because this is a microcosm of what's happening in the country right now. Just like espn having to apologize for auctioning off a black player during a god**** fantasy football draft. I mean you know it's bad when even MSNBC was laughing at them this morning.
So you think that an Asian-American announcer should be moved to a different assignment because his name is similar to Confederate General Robert E. Lee?
Pretty obvious Lee has been asked to 'fall on the sword' for ESPN's ridiculous decision and Lee is being the loyal employee because he likes his job. ESPN management look like clowns. It's hilariously pathetic.
What's the embarrassment?
I think the Asian American announcer should do whatever he is comfortable with. He requested to be reassigned to avoid any embarrasment to his career, good on him.
What sword and why do they look pathetic? A company looking to avoid potential embarrasment and their still being mocked. But no, we do nothing to invite the stupidty we have in the world.
If this is really what happened (FTR, I don't believe it is) then shame on him for feeling like he has to apologize for the name his mother and father gave and the embarrasment it might cause his career. Piss on their PC, snowflake a$$es...
If this needs to be explained to you then I seriously doubt you'll get it.
Have a nice day....
He didnt apologize we requested to be assigned. Talking heads made it a story and adults act outraged, blowing it out of proportion. And of course you dont believe it, doesnt fit the headline you read. So again, confirmation bais.
No outrage here. You have found all this offensive. I have found it amusing. That's why I'm happier than you....
No kidding. Political people (which ESPN and Clay Travis both are, even though they'd both deny it) view everything through the lens of their political narrative. You always accuse the other side of pushing a narrative and deny that you have one of your own.
I happen to agree with Clay Travis's politics more than ESPN's, so I'm more sympathetic to Travis's viewpoints (like in this case), but he's still a political guy. He's really trying to carve out a niche and build a brand as a conservative Deadspin, which is probably going to work out really well for him.
The amount of people who are sick of ESPN's/the media's political antics (or perceived antics) is really large, especially in Travis's demographic.
And, the little buttercups are going to great lengths, too. Just not in the right direction, eh?
I really don't get all this snowflake/buttercup talk because I've seen both sides act like children on things they don't like.
So either both sides are snowflakes or we just need to stop using the term because it get cancelled out.
I don't see it that way, but we all have opinions. Me, personally, I'm sick and tired of seeing all or any of the political bull **** in any forum other than the political forum. If it's political, it needs to be in the political forum and the mods need to be on top of it. But................it goes on.:hi:
The problem I have with Travis is, he has changed his views to pander to what will pay him the most. He's only been "conservative" for a little over a year now, and really didn't ramp it up until after Trump won, and after that he really went to the right. He voted for Obama twice and before last year he usually made fun of conservative people and regulary bashed the same people he's pandering to now.
Now you can argue maybe he changed his views, and I'll say it's possible....but given he's admitted he's an entertainer and money is his #1 goal, color me skeptical on the timing. I don't doubt he was never a far left kind of guy, but he was definitely way more liberal than he is now.
And if money is his goal, more power to him. I just wouldn't put much stock in him being very principled, because if pandering to the right ever slows his gravy train, he'll do an about face in a heartbeat.
