ESPN Reporter Allegedly Tells Sen. Josh Hawley ‘F*** You’ Over NBA, China Criticism

You are wasting your time. They want LeBron, and the NBA, to take a tougher stance on China then the POTUS does. Backwards world.

POTUS makes deals and compromises with China.

Our political leaders in general make deals and compromises with China.

Countless American companies do business with China.

All Americans benefit from doing business with China.

Singling out the NBA is just so politically driven. If half this attention was given to government spending, maybe Trump wouldn't be gettimg away with signing off on zillions in debt. These saps don't realize they are the victims of the 4d chess. Look over here at Lebron and the anthem kneelers while I sell your posterity down a river of irreconcilable debt.

Ludicrous, the president has been tougher on China than any in last 20 years.

The NBA is doing all it can not to say or do anything that might offend China. The same cannot be said for the current administration. But you knew that.

Trump's the only one to praise China's tight control over their people. He's the only one to stroke Xi off on twitter. He's trying to do business with China. Who cares if he's fighting them in a trade war? He endorsed Xi. That's where he stands on China. The NBA is neutral on China. Trump can't decide if he wants to fight or **** them.

Y'all would melt all the way down if Lebron or Obama praised Xi. You're so hopelessly partisan.

Not even a Trump supporter, in fact I hate both political parties. The NBA can't be neutral without being complicit any more then the US can.

The difference is the us as currently set up HAS to do business with China. There isn't a choice. We must invest in American manufacturing again so we can eventually break the yoke. Tarrifs are a starting point but America and the president most do more. The NBA can't remain neutral without being complicit, it's why they shut down the camp in that city.

Exactly. I'm not faulting either group. I'm faulting people who fault Lebron and the NBA while giving everybody else a pass.

We trade with China because we benefit from trade with China. Call it whatever you want. This is the reason.

The tariffs are about a trade war, not human rights. We're talking about human rights ITT. Shutting down a training camp is not taking a position against China. The NBA is still neutral and they're not complicit. If the NBA is complicit, so are all of us.

If the NBA is complicit, so are all of us.

Yes we are. Tarrifs are there starting point if starting equal trade (I hope), once we are on more equal ground we can begin to develop American manufacturing again. We currently trade with China because we have to, we can't produce a lot of what's needed domestically much less sell it on the global market because we've allowed China to set the market and price our own goods out of the market while they steal protected intellectual property from us. We are complicit by our dependence on them.

The NBA has a choice here, they can forego the money and be fine or keep doing business and be better. The US is in a different position currently, self inflicted over decades, and it will take a while before we can break the yoke and be ok.

Deep into what, exactly? This isn't a good look, but if they didn't know the conditions were bad and now they're trying to improve things*, at worst you got them trying to keep a story quiet. Who among us wouldn't ask our employees not to talk to the press about something like this?

*they closed the xinjiang facility, so this seems obvious
ESPN’s investigation was prompted by the backlash/reaction to Morey’s tweet.

Former employees.

I didn't assume anything about you, nor does my post imply anything about you.

Jamele Hill is a provocateur who sucks. So is Travis. Travis is appealing to the "shithole country" people and everyone is pretending like they all care about Hong Kong, but they're just using them for political fodder. It's so.....hypocritical. Duh duh DUHHH!
I don't think Clay Travis cares about Hong Kong, or even pretends to, for a second. His sole mission is to get "gotcha" moments at the expense of the woke crowd.

And he loves the attention he gets from the right wing outrage mob
...and to be fair, the "gotcha" moments he does get on SJWs do actually show their hypocrisy and double standards. Clay's problem is that, of course, he has them too.

I'm still surprised to this day that he didn't catch even more hell than he did for helping stoke and encourage the Vol Twitter mob that led the effort to stop the Schiano hire. I get it was an awkward situation because in this case he happened to agree with what the mob was saying (I think all of VolNation did), but for a guy that has made a career out of talking about the issues with social media mobs and pleading with people not to cave in to them, it was particularly ironic and should have hurt whatever credibility he has. He actually has no problem with social media mobs, or even participating in them, provided he agrees with the mob.

Yeah. I don't care if anybody goes after people for doing wrong, but the NBA/China stuff is just so weak, and like you said, you know he doesn't actually care that much about Hong Kong. I was critical of Lebron when he made his comment about Morey. It's worthy of disapproval but it's a molehill that's been made into a months-long mountain. It's kind of incredible.

The thing you have to remember about Travis as well is that he loves to go after the NBA (and his fans love to see him go after the NBA too) because of all the major professional sports leagues it's by far the most left-leaning, and some of its biggest figures are pretty outspoken about it. He even goes after it pretty regularly for non-political reasons - he's really quick to point out if ratings for some particular game were low and frequently says the league isn't as popular as "everybody thinks it is" because it's so popular on social media, and social media popularity isn't the best proxy for overall popularity. I actually think he might have a point there, but it's pretty obvious he doesn't really like the NBA.

I think Travis has a stronger basis than you probably do for going after the NBA on China, and I don't think he even makes any pretense of caring about the people of HK, which actually makes the attack more honest IMO. In other words, he doesn't couch his criticism of the NBA in some kind of faux-sympathy for a country he previously never thought about; I think all he cares about is making the woke brigade look foolish. Which is fine by me, but it's relatively easy to make him look foolish too.

However, if instead of the NBA having this complicated relationship with China it was some other league, he wouldn't make as big of a deal about it.

NBA reverses, allows 'FreeHongKong' to be printed on custom gear following backlash

Critics have been intensely scrutinizing the league's strong ties to China

The NBA appears to have reversed course after critics pointed out that customers cannot print "FreeHongKong" when ordering custom gear on its online store, further increasing scrutiny of the league's close tie to China.

Hours after a viral video showed that customers could not order any jerseys with the phrase "FreeHongKong," the online store now allows such text to be printed on the clothes without being blocked with an error message.

A spokesperson for the NBA told Fox News that Fanatics operates the league's online store and the company claims that the phrase was "inadvertently prohibited" and that it "has now been fixed."

I am sure baby bron bron will come out any minute now and condemn this. I bet the NBA lets the players wear anti beating slogans by the Chinese also

You're distracted from the real issue. Trump is spending like Obama stole Bezos' black AmEx. Focus or the 4d chess will get you
