Espn reporting saints

Happens on every team every season. Just doesn't get in the news.

I disagree. Individual players here and there sure, but this went all the way up to the coaching staff and front office personnel. They need to be hit hard and I've witnessed this b.s. from this joke of a franchise for years. I'm glad it came to the surface...

Reporting the skins had one going as well....no suprises these kinda things happen. It's a rough game. Advantages are to be had when a star goes down.

Can we get a Super Bowl asterisk please? :)

I think Colts fans and Vikings fans would agree.

I hate the Saints...

I can't believe this kinda thing still goes on. I'm down with the concept, but give the guy the bonus for hitting so hard you cause a fumble. It can't be about taking the other guy out of the game. It's not smart in terms of the golden rule, and it's bad sportsmanship.

I seen the Saints play a bunch the past few years and I really can't remember anything that stood out that much really, except for the NFC championship vs the Vikings. They were trying to tear Brett Favre in half.

ESPN reporting they will be punished more than the Patriots were for spygate. It seems a lot of the players seem to think it goes on everywhere and don't have much problem with it.

Not surprising...

What does anyone think the odds are that the Fisher-Rams are going to have to fire Williams before the season starts, even just as a PR move?

I'd say Williams gets canned.

If I was Goodell I would be pretty strict on this. He's meeting with Williams today, and if I was Goodell I would start the meeting by saying first, you are suspended for a year regardless, but if you withhold any more information and we find out later you were lying, you won't coach again in the NFL. I would also lay out several game suspensions for players directly involved, fines and suspensions for the organization (GM), and a one to several game suspension for Payton depending on his involvement.

I don't care how common it is. Hitting with intent to injure for money, is stupid. A good football hit isn't at the knees. I am by no means for softening up the game. I miss WRs not going over the middle. But keep it within the ideals of the game.

I just think this opens up the NFL to scrutiny and future legal liabilities. And the only way the NFL can distance it self from it in future negotiations, is by setting a serious benchmark for penalties.

Plus, the NCAA throws out a heck of a lot more penalties for minor offenses. A year suspension isn't that hard to throw out.

Overblown...hypocritical bs. Typical media crap.

I've seen this bull**** from the Saints for a long time, as they've tried to cheap shot Panthers players over the years, particularly Steve Smith, and I can assure you that this isn't overblown. Any fans of teams in the NFC South can tell you about this stuff. It isn't the way football is supposed to be played and it has no place in the game. Period.

It is in the game at every level. It is a violent game played by sociopaths. Pollyannish to think otherwise.

I understand it's a violent game, but it has its rules and the way that it's supposed to be played. The Saints clearly violated that on many occasions and went after other players' livelihoods. The worst part is that this type of behavior was openly encouraged and looked over by management, thus, the reason that so many have a problem with it and rightfully so...

Get this bounties stuff out of my NFL. It is unsporting and detrimental to the sport. I don't care how much people whine and cry about the softening of the sport, but these changes have to happen for the long term security of the sport.

It's been around in every level of tackle football for, well, ever. To think otherwise is extremely naive.

I never said that it didn't go on at every level brother. But as the highest level of the sport the nfl has to set an example.
