ESPN says Texas A&M, Mizzou, Clemson, FSU to join SEC

Maybe 4-team divisions are too complicated to sort through for an SEC champion. It may very well stay E and W and just add the 2 more teams. If it does break down to 4-team divisions then it could be 2 games, N vs S (best SEC record) vs E vs W (best record) and then those 2 winners play in SEC championship. The loser gets an auto-bid to BCS bowl, Sugar if SEC champ goes to NCG, or Fiesta if Sugar is taken.

Prefer Tx AM and Clemson. FSU had their chance and like many other posters mentioned it does not make sense for them to join. Plus UT Football would be in the hole if we have to start playing FSU for the next 5 years. JMO

Clemson will be cool.

More meaning to the USCe and Clemson battle

More meaning to the FSU/UF game

Its gonna be great

I would much rather have Georgia Tech than FSU. They have historical rivalry with UT, and perennial rivalry with UGA. Would mean more, IMO, than FSU/UF each year. Screw them both.

Both play on a neutral site (Georgia Dome) or play home and home like the NFL? Which would you prefer?

I'd say have the #1 and #2 team host the first games and have the championship game at the GA Dome.

You make good sense, especially the screw Florida and FSU part

Reportedly, Florida State and Clemson are not part of the SEC wish list. They do not offer anything to the TV demographics.

Reportedly, the SEC is hotly pursuing North Carolina and Duke in the east and another Texas school or Missouri in the west.

Mizzou, Duke, and UNC would add good football and great basketball to the conference.

best case scenario. This would elevate SEC hoops to where it needs to be

Good for the SEC but bad for ut football IMO

x1000...It will make recruiting much harder for us than it already is. We are at a huge disadvantage...Don't know how any Vol fan can be pumped about this. You can also expect less attendance at games.

How's 4 divisions going to work? Is there going to be some kind of SEC Playoff now?

Not that it isn't a cool idea.

For sure we ll have four divisions instead of the two already in place and have the winner of each division play a four team playoff for the SEC crown.

How great would be if UT ends up in a division with South Carolina, Clemson and Vandy. We would rule the North Division!

Really? We're going to have 6 or 7 difficult games a year. How is that any different from the norm?

ESPN is saying these two as well

Does this happen? Or are they jumping the gun early like they did with the big 10 invites last year? (remember, last year they said the big 10 was inviting Pitt, mizzou, and a third team that they didn't)

The first part of your post is a good thing. As said earlier, iron sharpens iron.

The second part just isn't true.

I think that FL ST and TAMU could do that, both being top 15 teams. Mizzou is in limbo with their new coach and Clemson isn't any good.. So with that being said I don't think it will make us any better or any worse..

Agreed. Clemson is the one that makes me weary. I can understand the logic behind A&M, FSU would be a monster, and I respect Mizzou as a school, but Clemson just comes across as trash to me...

I dont exactly see how this will be a disadvantage for us? This will be very difficult for A&M and FSU for the pure fact of the matter that will now have to play and recruit with the SEC. Its going to be a rough transition going from playing 2 maybe 3 ranked teams, to seeing 6 or 7 every year. There will be no more we won our big game of the year, now there will be 5 or more of these games for the new teams coming in.
