I don't think so. Ohio state will win the big 10 and give it to Shroud because I think hooker has to literally win the SEC to get it and it's a harder path.
It's wild because Tebow won it when Florida didn't win jack. The bar is higher for Vols, for arbitrary reasons.

Yeah but who else was on his level? I feel everyone is leaning towards Shroud. As amazing as hooker has been, if loses to Georgia or in the SECCG and Shroud is undefeated I don't think hooker surpasses him unless OSU wins and Shroud is bad in several games.

But what if Hooker does beat Georgia and wins the SEC?

McFadden also led his team to 4 losses and was even more central to his team's success. Or they could have decided it was time for another defensive winner, like when Peyton "couldn't win the big game".

The one thing I do find funny…..Stroud is the odds favorite. Go look at his stat line against Rutgers. I know he got pulled from that game early but if Hendon put up those same sort of stats against a similar opponent, the media would have already written him off. Stroud didn’t win that game, Miyan Williams did.

Hendon has very little margin for error but I believe he can pull it off.

OSU hasn't played anyone, as usual. The ND game looked good at first but ND is terrible. They've lost to Marshall and Stanford. Their next best win is Wisconsin who has losses to Illinois and and Washington State. OSU has also only played 1 true road game. It isn't even close whose resume is better.

I don’t disagree with you, but OSU looks like a very good and complete squad.

They voted to give the trophy to a defensive player instead of Peyton Manning... it was the only time a defensive player has won the trophy and it came in PEYTON MANNING'S senior season. They ain't giving it to a Vol.
That year was weird. Peyton was the wire-to-wire favorite. And Danny Wuerffel had won it the year before. Media was doing EVERYTHING they could to find a reason to NOT vote for Manning. So they invented Ryan Leaf to split the QB vote and launched Woodson to the win.

I think this year is very different. Hooker’s performance against Bama was a highlight for sure (similar to what Woodson did against OSU his year). As long as he plays well and doesn’t cost us the UGA game, I think he still is a great chance even if UT loses to UGA. Two losses and he’s done.

Tennessee and Hooker are the media darlings this year. That’s completely opposite of Mannings senior season.

There's no reason he shouldn't be #1, much better resume than Stroud. Nothing against Stroud, but Hooker has lead us to wins against 4 ranked teams, with impressive numbers. He is an absolute beast of a player, and seems to be a great example to others. I just wish we could've had him with Heupel longer.

Agreed. Hooker is a similar against-the-grain, SNTS candidate that Woodson was that year.

I was afraid Will Anderson might be gathering momentum, but I think his mild showing against the # 6 team probably drops him from contention.

I suspect Hooker wins it if the Vols go 10-2 and he finishes with his current stats.

I think the winds of change are blowing. HH is a great story, and a great ambassador for the University and College Football. He’s been a distant dark horse all season, but his play has elevated him. There does not seem to be the inherent media bias there was against Peyton. We know the Heisman process is a joke at this point, and Tennessee should have a couple of winners by now…but that’s changing. I think he may actually pull this off. I hope he does…he deserves it. And so does this program.
