But it’s not the best offense in the country… down significantly from the previous season soo people are bound to complain? It’s apparent it’s very hard for you to comprehend. 2022 we were a top offense, 2023 we were not. See how that drop off would make people question things?
I do see, and I’m saying it’s stupid. You are hung up on statistics and ignoring my point. Which is fine, but I’m not going to go round and round with you. There are many factors to consider and they’ve all been discussed extensively. No use in going through it all again. Our numbers are down from last year, but Heupel is still Heupel and his offensive system is unmatched. No offense gets more out of less than ours. How many players on our offense this year will play in the NFL? I’ve got 2. We started 9 different OL due to injuries and yet we still averaged over 450 ypg in the SEC. That deserves praise, not criticism.

Hard to utilize the TE position in passing game when you don’t trust your Qb to throw over the middle. Heupel’s system is one of the most dynamic ones in college football but it’s still going to have its potential limited by the personnel running it. What made Hooker so good is he could run the system so damn well but when things broke down he could improvise and hurt teams with his legs. His off script plays were really solid. Joe was decent but he came after one of the better qbs we’ve had in the last two decades.

Witten says hold my beer.
Witten was a converted defensive end and had to learn the position in college at a time where tight ends were just blockers for Coach Fulmer. He did nothing his 1st year, 2nd season 168 yards during the season and then a big game in the Citrus Bowl 125 yards, 3rd season was his breakout year he led in receptions yards 493 but only became the main target after Kelly Washington went down (4 games over 400 yds). He declared for the draft and the rest is history. So yes, I would say Witten was criminally underutilized during his time here , in the same vein as Kamara, and didn't become great until he got into the NFL.

I think we all laughed or held our breath when Heupel started using Princeton Fant in the H-back role as he was viewed as a fumbler. Wow did he ever prove that wrong and became a major weapon. That was a wicked shovel pass they developed. Another player similar to Fant would be great.
