Everyone needs to calm down...

I thought McRae grew up alot in games on the road towards the end of the season. Maymon can be a double double and Stokes can be a double double and with McRae and even Moore and Richardson, plus you add Hubbs, then yes next year's team has no excuses for mental lapses or starting slow. IMO.

Maymon is REALLY missed in zone situations. We will be much better with him. Also, if Hubbs can shoot as well as people claim and is more consistent than McBee, that can only help. As long as Josh continues hitting those mid range jumpers and Golden can just bring the ball up the floor, we'll be fine. The only thing I worry about is McRae coming in next season as the preseason POY (very possible) or at least having a ton of hype (much deserved) and to see how he responds. For some reason, I dont' see confidence being an issue with him. His basketball IQ shot through the roof this season. We didn't see many crazy, ill advised shots. He had his moments but he looked so much more in control when he got in the paint than his previous years.

Could help, but we only won 3 road games when he played in 11-12.
Seems to be a deeper problem.

I understand that, but a senior Maymon maybe has more road savy than a junior Maymon. And a Hubbs in place of Mcbee can't hurt...I'd be shocked of our road woes are as bad as last year or this year.

No point in arguing it, we'll find out next year.

Our road record with Maymon playing last year was just as horrible. IMO Maymon is not the answer.

We win when we drive the ball or feed the post. That is the formulation for our success. We will still have Trae, Richardson, and McRae looking like they need to be playing in a middle school girls league when they try and feed the post. The 3 are the worst passing guards that I have seen combined on one team. McRae has shown that he can hit the 3, but he is streaky. I'd love to see his 3 pts % away vs home. Once those 3 get out of rythme, they quit driving the ball. They can't feed the post. And we see them jack up 3s. CCM for some reason can not control his guards to "consistently" play the style of ball that wins us games.

Maymon helps our ball handling IMO, and Maymon will help feed the post IMO...IMO he will solve a lot of the issues and make us a much better team...with Maymon this year I think we are 3-4 wins better, and that'd have obviously made a huge difference.

Question - What if Maymon does not make back next season? Every game home game that I attended this year (which was all but 2) including the last one, Maymon was definitely favoring his left leg. I understand that he has over seven months to rehab/recover however it has not appeared that Maymon has been progressing very quickly this season.

Really; I thought most of you would have learn a simple lesson with our football team, switching coaches is not a good thing especially with recruiting. 2014 is setting up to be an awesome team, just be patient. CM has got this.

And we had 2 or 3 games where they were doing it well this season. then it just faded into the sunset.

This is what I wonder about. Not so much that he seems like he is favoring his leg, but what if he isnt ready when next season comes around? What if he isnt close to the same as he was? I am afraid people are expecting too much from him in the future, and we may not even have him next year.

I hope he comes back just as good next year, but he has been out for a while, and not playing basketball.

Being the eternal pessimist, I fear you may be right.
The length of this injury has me believing it could be one of those 2 year recovery issues or even career ending.

And he is still most definitely favoring the left leg when he walks. Those staph infections can be very nasty and difficult to deal with.

I really hope its not career ending, but that is what I am thinking. Infections can be nasty. Couple that with the time off, no practicing, etc. I am thinking the worst on this one.

I hope nobody blames him if he tries to come back and just cant go, or at least not at a high level.

Don't think they would blame him but a lot of hearts would be hurting.

It may be that, but I always remember him walking with a big exaggerated limp anyway, even before.

you may be right on that..... some of those bballers do appear to limp around even when healthy. time will tell I suppose. but I would not be surprised if he is unable to make it back.

A lot of people are counting on him being the missing peice of the puzzle, the fixer of all our problems.
And that's not fair to him.
Our worst problems are guard related and probably only solved by graduation.

wait for it....

careful.....

negativity police in... 5...4...3...2...1....

I agree with you here, patrick. Might be the first time ever. :)

Maymon's injury still concerns me and until I hear that he's 100% back and ready to go and playing at full strength, I'm going to worry.

Actually what we should have learned from football is that sticking with a guy who can't do the job doesn't make things better.

And what are you talking about with recruiting? It got worse the longer Dooley was here.

That said, it's a disservice to compare Martin's issues with our recent football debacle. I really think Martin is a solid coach (not a joke like Dooley), but he really needs to get over the hump. Hopefully next year is when he puts it all together.

Simple Fact is that most of the cryers will never be happy with CCM because he is not Pear. Martin could win the whole tournament next year and the very first down year you would be screaming for his replacement. Jordan McRae went from all bust team to all SEC and Stokes is Mr Double Double and Martin hasn't done a good job?

Last thing as I head to work, It wasn't Martin that lost to Bama it was the five guys on the court. They know how to play against a zone now and still they just set at the three point line and ran St Pearl's 3 jack offense. That is just as much the failure of the players as it is the coach.

So its pearls fault our players shot too many threes against Bama.....LOL that is a stretch
