He's reaching out to former players so if he tanks it for 3 years we don't run him out of town. Otherwise whats the point. You have to earn respect in these parts. CBJ ain't earned crap yet. He needs to stop worrying bout what former players think of him and worry about what FUTURE players think of him. I like CBJ, but he hasn't proved anything yet. It's hard to rally behind a coach that was the 5th or 6th choice with mediocre success in bad conferences.
Exhibit A.
The Cincinnati staff? Here comes the "it's a great staff because it has chemistry!" argument.
That's cool and all, but dude went 0-9 against the upper echelon of the Big East when he inherited the two-time defending conference champion. Why should I expect him to beat the upper echelon of the SEC, especially after taking over 5-7 Tennessee?
Thigpen, Martinez, Azzani and Graham are great recruiters and so is Elder. Last I checked the entire staff isnt Cincy. Thats 4 coach's that werent at Cincy with Jones. You drowning bro, you got anything else, Bammer?

And its really difficult for mental midgetss that bought into the Gruden hype so much they are incapable of rationale and reasoning.
Not to mention his first season at Cincy he was left with nothing. He has consistently shown he's a better recruiter than the guy coaching at ND right now. Anything else????
Yeah, Azzanni is so great that Meyer brought him to Ohio St...oh, wait. Want to answer my last question?
He's making $3 million per year with a so-so record in crappy conferences, so he better be doing everything right and working about 18 hours a day. I don't care about his family. I care about 4 and 5* recruits and wins.
Well then that obviously settles it. Do you know he wasnt offered by Meyer? Urban is a tool just like Saban and once coach's have a few seasons with them they look to move on. Azzani is a great recruiter, has zero to do with him coaching with Urban. I will get you a life jacket Honey Booboo
Relative to Cincinnati before he got there, for one.
2007-09: 33-7 (17-4 Big East), 2 conference titles
2010-12: 23-14 (12-9 Big East), 0 conference titles
Pead, Binns, Wolfe, and several other NFL players are "nothing?" You think a 23-3 record in the two years prior didn't help with recruiting? Make some more excuses for him, please.
You still haven't answered my question. Why couldn't he beat a single good Big East team in 3 years?
He was 2-1 against Strong alone and got beat this year in OT.Lets see 2010 he was starting from scratch and lost 31-29 to Okl.
2011 Coach of the yr. Beat Louis, NC St, S.Fl, Pitt, Syr and Vandy.
2012 beat V.Tech, Uconn and Syr. Lost to Louis in OT and Rut by 7and and thats repla ing his starting QB and top RB. Not too shabby to me. Whats your arguement exactly? Sounds like you dont have one and are looking for a reason to ***** and not support him.
Not at all. just trying to be realistic. If you win games, the former players come to you. Unless former players can help recruit, sounds like he's kissing butt or trying to get autographs. Another recruit turned Ut down yesterday, QB will grier(i think From NC), going to FLA. This is getting emberassing, Coaches and players turning us down left and right in the national spotlight, and CBJ out there talking to former players. We lost our best 3 players, got a brutal schedule, and he's reliving the 90's.
"Do you KNOW Fulmer wasn't offered by Notre Dame? Maybe he turned them down."
Keep making excuses. Still dodging the question...
