Expectations

Coming off the steam of this 2014 recruiting class, it will be tempting for some of Volnation to build up ridiculous expectations for the 2014 season. In fact, we've already seen a "we're gonna beat Oklahoma" thread.

Butch and staff have proven they can coach/win (historically), and now they have shown they can recruit. Accept that this year we will be breaking in new O and D lines, a new QB (Ferg), and more skill players and give them time to build this program back up. 6-6 this year and then in 2015 we make the leap.

Spot on, I think getting to a bowl is the next step, looking at our schedule I see three wins in non-conference play (Don't sleep on Utah State though) and dropping the barn for Ole Miss should make that game winnable, Vandy will be in disarray and Kentucky is Kentucky. So 3 non-conference wins, UK, VU, possibly Ole Miss and I think we go 1-2 versus UF, UGA and USC, 6-7 wins should be doable.

I think Tennessee with Worley healthy goes 7-5(4-4 in the SEC) I think Tennessee's losses will be Oklahoma,Georgia,Alabama,Ole Miss and South Carolina.

florida beat tennessee last year and still had a worse record.

so, assuming tennessee beats florida, it would be hard to see florida with a better record.

Agreed.

Turnover in the trenches is way too much for an SEC team with depth issues already. We will have good talent but the time to develop these kids before getting them on the field is limited. We're putting essentially kids one year removed from high school against elite talent with a few years in S&C out there. If not for all the early enrollees I think 6 wins would be unrealistic.

2015 will be a year where we can at least contend.

No matter our record this year, I honestly believe '15 & '16 will be much improved. I don't mind this season being rough, because we know what's coming down the road with this class and future classes. It's a process. After all we've been through, it's really hard to be patient, but we have to be just a little longer.

I have tons of ifs, ands and buts when it comes to the Florida game. Color me OregonVol, Wylo, Sjt18, etc when it comes to beating Florida. After 9 straight losses I don't know how anybody can predict we beat them this year. Beating Florida is gonna have to actually happen before I'll jump on board, I don't care how down the Gators are.

Offensive line couldn't block anyone, so who cares who left.

D-line lost Easley, but they played most of the year without him.

On paper, it will be a very good defense, with two terrific defensive ends.

i don't know if you are being sarcastic here or not, but the vast majority of the board believed 2013 would be better than 2014....before the first game was played last season.

Truth. Everyone thought we'd do ok in 2013 due to our amazingly awesome NFL bound O-line, and woe is us in 2014 when we have to replace them. Pffffft

Absolutely. I have to admit though, the pain of being beaten so much is starting to take it's toll. I went to Oregon and Vanderbilt last year... Thinking about Oklahoma and South Carolina this year. Hope we can do better...

Oh puleeez. Ya'll are so full of it. I hear the same whining down here all the time. You have boatloads of talent. This false modesty/crocodile tear shedding garbage is just that..... garbage.

I will once again be satisfied with 6-6. It wouldn't be fair to expect much more with the youth on our team regardless of their talent level.

As far as Florida goes, I will believe we can beat them when I see it happen.
