Eyes on the Balkans

Whose fault is it? The local Serb Mayors and police officers resigned leaving the new for new elections. They than boycott the elections allowing Albanians to win by default. The new mayors have to be allowed to take office and access the town hall. The Serbs are the reason for the latest round of tensions.

Why is any of that justification for American troops to be there?

I just answered that. There is an international mandate for peacekeepers, one that your beloved Russia voted for.
No, you did not answer my question with regards to UNSC resolution 1244. UNSC resolution 1244 was a result of the US/NATO bombing campaign in 1999.

So I ask again, why were we involved in Yugoslavia/The Balkans in the first place?

Because there is an international mandate to be there? Or did you forget UNSC resolution 1244?
Also, I find it funny that your defense of this is a UN Security Council resolution. Hey, @Burhead... did the UN Security Council give the OK for the 78 days of NATO bombing? See, just like you like to pick and chose your timelines to your convenience, you can't legitimize an institution in one breath yet ignore that institution when it is not convenient.

Because we were invited, you pultroon.

Invited by who? And why was it our obligation to accept this alleged invitation? The Clinton Administration was itching for any distraction away from the Lewinsky affair. Had no business inserting ourselves in something halfway around the globe that was of no concern to us.

man. thats a general trend down, for everyone. seems like NATO has a LOT to do with peace.
War and Peace
Russia has enjoyed its longest stretch of not being invaded by a European power in its HISTORY thanks to NATO. Remember NATO had nukes for almost a decade before Russia had an arsenal big enough for MAD.
