F-15

I was lucky enough this morning to watch a F-15 leaving the Addison airport and head for parts unknown. They just move through the sky so easily. When the pilot hit the gas, the acceleration was amazing and the noise outstanding.

I did 12 years USAF with F-15's - C, D, E's as an avionics test systems program manager and a few other cool gigs working with SOG. Took some damage or I'd still be with them.

You should see them in live fire action.
The H&J in my name are fallen brothers and eagle1 was one of my call signs.

Was there for a F18 "C" school and if I ever have to go there again, I will just go ahead and jump off a cliff lol

I took an F-18 R&C class at Oceana and a MOTT class at Norfolk a couple of years back. I didn't think either base was bad.

But I'm an engineer, so I stayed at a hotel on the beach. Wish I was still in ordnance so I could take those classes again. I've moved on to E-2/C-2, so I don't get any government funded vacations to Virginia Beach anymore.

Sorry to hear about that. Nice that you honor those guys.

Don't know if any of you are old enough to see the SR-71 fly, but when I was stationed at RAF Mildenhall back in the early '80's it took off almost every morning and it was a sight to see. The refuelers would take off about 30 minutes before so it could refuel.

One bad ass plane.

It boggles the mind they put that thing in the air in the early 60's. It's STILL awesome by even today's standards.

Yeah, I was active at the time and had to stay in the barracks on post..........not fun since most that were in school there were just out of boot and still were given the "recruit" treatment

Watching Apache helicopters enter the canyons out in AZ was very cool. Was right by our branch out there

Also if you ever go see an outdoor concert in Virginia Beach you'll get your fill of jet noise

I'm basically on a 3 year vacation to VA Beach right now. I just want to thank all of VN for helping fund it.

:eek:lol: only 47% of us did.

I got that a lot too from friends when I'd travel to exotic locales.

All I would hear was "my tax dollars are paying you to...."
I'd say yep, sucks to be you.

Worst yet, I "have" to go to training in Italy around the first of the year. Probably again the following year. It's awful

Ha, I was on mobile and couldn't see your location as SoMD. Where do you work? I was in 4.4.7.1 (Propulsion and Power, Engine Component Support).

I'm in 5.1.6.13 at VX-20. E2/C2 flight test.

I never supported E2/C2. Mainly F-18 and JSF.

I did F18 stores compatability 2008-2011 over at 23.

Were you there in 2008? There was a huge influx of Tennessee grads that came in and we used to have Tennessee lunches on non-cws Fridays.

2008 was the year I started. I was the only Tennessee guy in 4.4 though, surrounded by Big 10 grads. Wish I'd known about the Tennessee lunches.

I watched the Blue Angels practice this morning in Pensacola. Very impressive and up close....I suggest checking it out if you're on vacation in the area. They typically do it twice a week.

For all you young guys, The "Crossville Comet" Curt Watson, who played for the Vols (fullback) was a pilot for the Blue Angels back in the day.

I think he is still in the top 5 of leading rushers in Vol history.
