Fake Injures and SEC

I think it's hysterical that Sankey comes out and issues this. You can't issue fines when what the teams are doing are not against the rules. How about solving the issues by putting a rule in place that helps alleviate the problem first. And then if it continues, fine em.
Agree. I also don't see how a $50,000 fine is much of a deterrent if there's a chance you can get away with an "injury timeout" on a critical play that might make the difference between getting into the playoffs or not.

Sounds like these fines are just a way for the SEC to get fatter.

There’s a chance that Tennessee gets fined twice for extra point injuries from this weekend. It would take less than an hour to have a grad assistant film guy send two years of clips to the SEC office with the clips from this weekend. It’s not subtle.

I’ve never understood why Heupel does this. Tennessee could benefit the most from getting rid of fake injuries used to slow down its offense, but an injured vol on PAT is as certain as death and taxes. The extra 2 minutes for the defense aren’t that important.

They need a 3rd party doctor on the sidelines to confirm
In all honesty a Dr. can't determine if a player is hurt unless it's obvious. How can someone tell if a player had a cramp, a hip pointer, their breath knocked out, tweaked a sore ankle, had a Charlie horse in the thigh, etc.?

If a pattern develops in a game then the SEC should require an independent medical staff (min of 2 doctors with support staff... $$$ make it pricey $$$) to be hired and PAID FOR by the school in question o_O to be on the sidelines for the next game to THOROUGHLY examine a player that goes down for a potential injury.... Because if there is a significant pattern of injuries/cramps/etc then the program's strength and conditioning/nutrition/ etc must me inadequate and investigation is needed because after all....everyone talks about making sure the student athletes health and safety are maintained. ;)
Then the injured player or potentially injured player should remain out of the game for a Quarter or Half (if the player is actually injured they probably should not go back in at all) to give adequate time for the independent medical staff to make a determination. ;)

I just want to add the reason I think it has to be two possessions and not 1 possession:

The most important downs to substitute are 3rd and 4th down (so you can get into an appropriate personnel grouping for the given down and distance). So it’s not going to be a big deal to fake an injury before either of those and there’s a chance the series is over after that play.
