:rock:Forget CHW and our horrible basketball team. The LV softball team is undefeated and beat #4 Oklahoma today 2 to 1 and our freshman pitcher went all the way. Late tonight, the LVSB team won their second game today against UCSB wining 8 to 3 with our pitcher Moss going the whole game. If things continue, we may be the surprise of the SEC and the nation.:eek:lol:

Sorry fans, I'm just frustrated seeing lady vols a super star program not in Ranking, and playing like a high school team with that coach making huge cash in salary.

Having six players has nothing to do with her ability to prepare a team. How many layups did Florida make tonight, I lost count. Defense suppose to be her strong suit, she is crap as a coach. Anyone that defends her as a coach has no business being a Lady Vol fan. Open your eyes, it doesn't matter what you think of her as a person, as a coach "SHE CAN'T COACH". All of the people that call our games can see it and basically say it every game.

Amen!!

You don't fire a coach who has been to 3 elite 8s and a sweet 16. Who has also won 3 sec titles, in 4 completed seasons, and is bringing in the number 1 class and well on way to a top class after that. Results are what matters. Grow up and stop hating. Holly doesn't coach how to miss layups, and 8 ft wide open shots.

Agreed ! While she can tighten up on some of her decision making there are things you see and just shake your head about. Jamie got a steal and blew a wide open lay up... as did meme last week. I know for a fact they practice going full speed and making lay ups with contact because Dean or practice player is usually the one in the vid background on the baseline hitting the girls with the pad. Holly being here with this many All Americans and not getting to a final 4 is frustrating however if this was another school she would be doing a bang up job. I think she has faired better than Duke and her players seem to actually want to stay around and be coached by her which says a lot. Also the players have developed under her... although we would like to see more consistency look at Mercedes and Jamie numbers along with Alexa. Even Diamond looks totally different even with turnovers she continues to say ok if this ain't working then I gotta impact the game in different ways. The Diamond of old would of pouted for shot not falling. This one says ok shot not falling then I'm going to go out and almost get a triple double.

Replace Meme, Reynolds, and Dunbar with good players and it might be hard for even Holly to lose the games they have lost. Those three contributions for minutes played have been minimal at best.

Very minimal and I am surprised by Dunbar and jackson why would you not get in the gym and get up shots you are wide open and this would be the year to show holly you can contribute. But next year with thsoe freshman and if diamond and mercedes stay jackson will see maybe 10 mins a game and dunbar will not make play if they do not get in the gym and work on there shot

It's not just them though, I guarantee you if Mercedes Russell has a little bit of Nicky Anosike in her (Nastiness/don't take no stuff personality) we would be tough to beat. Diamond can go off when she wants and Nared is showing she can do the same also. Russell gets her numbers but against teams that have no post presence she should really be putting up number like Chantel Osahor (the 6'2 Post from Washington) she is averaging close to 16pts and 15 rebounds a game. She makes she she cleans the boards so that Plum can shoot as much as she wants and she †akes pride in it. She gives 100 % all the time.

When does Holly's contract end? That's when she will be let go. Women's basketball breaks even at best, so they obviously can't afford a buyout. It is a niche sport whose fanbase size doesn't fluctuate significantly based on wins and losses. Sorry to be a wet blanket, but it's true...

This program, by all accounts I have seen posted over the years, is one of the more stable as far as finances go. It, along with most sports other than football (top tier schools) seem to be a break even proposition at best. However, they are part of the college scene and have been for a long, long time. As to our women's basket ball program, it comes nearer "paying it's way" than most. But the times, they seem to be changing under this coaching staff.

The decision to press with 3 mins left was one of the differences in the game along with Ronnie fouling out of course. Does anyone know why we can't implement a full court half court press more during games? SC did it all not against TAMU and was successful. Auburn hounded us with the press as well.

The reason is, when you are playing zone defense and extend for a half-court press... If the press is beaten, there are holes in the zone until it can restructure. Often by that time, the offense has already attacked your out-of-place openings.

So your saying we don't have the guards to implement a press successfully because we are slow on def? Just trying to understand. It seems we are not very creative on Defense.

I agree but were never going to get that out of her. At least she shoots a decent percentage and grabs a few rebounds. What she does compared to the three I mentioned is enormous. She is a player that will give you 15 points and 8 rebounds a game. She will play a little defense occasionally but is certainly vulnerable to the drive in layup. She is a little on the slow side in reaction speed and I expect what were getting this year is her max for her career. We all wanted more but sometimes a player has an personality that stops her from reaching the potential she has. For her height and skills Mercedes is going to be average and I accepted that this year just hopes she comes back and helps the freshmen next season.

I would say because of the number of players on the roster and lack of speed at the point guard position and even the three position. Diamond is about the only player we have that can recover to her position if the other team beats the press the others are always watching from the backcourt.
I think next year we will press more with the influx of speed and talent from players like Cooper, Westbrooks, Hayes, and Davis.

when running a 3-2 or 2-3, you have to use your guards to press, if the press is broken, the guards are on the other side of the arc and therefor out of place until they can get back to their positions. You just can't run an effective press with a zone intended defensive set.

You can run a half-court trap if you stack your PF and C, in the paint. PF at the foul-line and C inside the lane. If you don't stack your posts, advantage is to the offense if the press is broken

We need action/ Petition, to get dis so cal Head Coach out of here.. University of TN is just wasting time on her.Did she have Voodoo on them?

How can anyone justify firing any HC that has a 75% win %. :dunno:. Guess loosing to rivals gets that conversation started, same thing with football.

Sisaq, I believe the winning percentage is trending downward. 24 losses in two years will do that. The question remains, what have you done lately?

If Diamond and Mercedes stay we'll have about five losses or less next season. The new influx of talent to join these two and Nared will be enough to beat all these awful teams we lose to this season. When you have only four or five players doing anything on a roster you will have off nights. There will be other players to take up the slack next season.
Bama, Auburn, Miss St, Penn State, Va Tech etc will be wins next season.

It didn't help last year. Holly is still coach.

Middleton's last defensive stand against Williams (?) was superb. The FL guard thought she would juke right by but AM kept her in front and locked down, forcing a low % 3 pt. shot. I was impressed!
Defense was good but she was able to get off the shot and just missed. We had fouls to give and imo she should have fouled her before she eer attempted a shot.

We didn't have the number one class coming in last year. We did have two or three additional players that played offense like several of the players on this years team.

We had a bunch of top 10 rated players and McD AAs. Outside of the low post, there was a lot of depth. And they still sucked.
