I don't understand what you mean.

He directed 3 of 4 best movies of the series.

Yeah, besides OotP, I really enjoyed the tone of the last three movies. OotP just didn't translate into a very compelling movie. I know they were missing a ton from the books, and rearranged some things between movies, but I enjoyed them for what they were. GoF was missing a lot too. I'm still partial to PoA though. It had the dark tone similar to Yates' films, and was damn close to the book. It being the last short book helps, of course. I wish they could've split the last 4 into two films a piece, but I'm greedy.

I think GoF was the only book that really needed 2 movies. I can't get over the fact that HBP focused too much on the teen romance and not enough on the story. It's one of my favorite books of the series but least favorite movie.

Yeah, I'd say it was missing the most from the book. The DH needed two. I just wish they'd fleshed out the Battle of Hogwarts more. The HBP was way too burdened with the teen romance, I agree.

Really the best way to do the Harry Potter universe justice, is to make it a great TV series. Give it the Game of Thrones treatment. CGI and effects would probably blow up the cost too much though. But it would be the best way to portray the full story. I wish they could.

Anyone see where Johnny depp has been cast, supposedly as grindelwald? Im pumped about that storyline being explored. Would be awesome to see dumbledore vs grindelwald and the hunt for the deathly hallows in this series of films!

I would absolutely love that. My only nitpick, as corny as it may be, is after growing up with the original actors it would be extremely hard for me to connect with anyone else.

Yeah, it will be weird getting used to the new cast. It's getting pretty packed with stars, which could be great or disastrous.

Judging by the from-behind pictures of Grindelwald with the '20s fade haircut, it has to be Depp. They have to get the casting of Dumbledore right. That may be the most important casting decision in this series. The story between them should be interesting, considering the unrequited romantic dynamic.

This ain't Game of Thrones..I don't think they would push the gay angle into the spotlight. At least I hope not.

Oh they will. Because Rowling is pretty vocal about that

It will definitely be a part of the story. It's integral to it. Dumbledore was blinded by his love for Grindelwald, causing him to not realize the threat until it was too late.

Rowling said in an interview that the scriptwriter for the Half-Blood Prince was going to put in a line from Dumbledore talking about "a pretty girl in my youth..." and she had to put a note on the script reminding him about Dumbledore's sexuality.

Just got back from seeing this. First off, im a huge potter fan so it wouldnt take much for me to enjoy. I loved it though. Great characters, some funny moments, awesome effects. There's also plenty of easter eggs, name drops and symbols..i feel like it definitely sets up the Dumbledore and grindelwald storyline in an exciting way. Cant wait to see the rest!

Just got back from it, too. Loved it. Definitely full of Easter eggs and fan service. Can't wait for Dumbledore and Grindelwald.

I hate the term "fan service". It is usually used in a negative way. Glad to see you didn't go that route. Entertainment is literally supposed to serve their fans.
