Pat Summitt, of course, and then every Lady Vol to put on the uniform and play for Tennessee became my favorite.

Love our Lady Vols! Always classy; always making us proud!

Neither Holdsclaw nor Catchings have been mentioned and when both were on the floor they were the best two total players Holdsclaw hang time was like slow motion and Catchings ability to follow her shot - Ostrowski's little left handed hook shot, Gordon's total intimidation swagger on the court, but my list is lengthy and I feel honored for having started my watching career in the balcony of Stokely.

Read my above post. "The 3 Meeks" that includes Randall, Holdsclaw and Catchings.

Prior to your post, Catchings and Holdsclaw have each been mention at least 5 times in various posts in a variety of ways.

You can come down from that balcony in Stokely now. We now have high-speed internet. :)

There were some tough players on some of those early, great UT teams. Dena Head for example. We've been missing players like that in recent years.

It would have to be a tie between Ace Clement, Michelle Marcinack, Kelly Jolly, Chamique, Tamika, Sameka, and Abby Coglin in there as well. in fact that 1996-1997 team and the 1997-1998 one as well.

When you think about all the remarkable women we've had come through the program and despite the diverse backgrounds, skill sets, personalities and decades in which they played they were all positivly influenced by Summitt or the Summitt way to some degree....for me its almost as though you can tell if they played for her just by the way they carry themselves. Picking a favorite is tough but I'd take Holdsclaw and Trish Roberts.

I'm the same age as Summitt. I was on campus in grad school when she arrived. I had played a non revenue mens sport as an undergrad. Womens sports really meant nothing to me at the time. Its a long story and I really can't adequately explain but Summitt got my attention....I knew there was something different about her...there was something going on there.....I was kind of a gym rat and played pick up games with her...I did some conditioning with some of her players and played some pick up games with them as well....things were a lot less structured back then.....I was into photography as a hobby and she allowed me access to shoot them...I even ended up dating a couple of Lady Vol players from her first 2 teams....

I finally graduated and got a job and moved away....got married and had kids....I stayed in infrequent touch with Pat through the years and much later on ended up moving back to Knoxville and living a few houses down from her....I had season tickets a total of 30+ years....

When its all said and done shes not an hero to me, shes far from perfect but she is my favorite (don't know how to compare and contrast whose best) coach and one of my very favorite people in the world....the person you see on TV is the person you get day in and day out......and that's how an old, 'blue haired', fat guy becomes a lady vol fan long before he's a old, 'blue haired, fat guy....

Decruex,

I have always wondered about how Trish Roberts would fare in todays game.
I became a fan shortly into year 2+. Holly who has a retired jersey if projected into 2013 was neither a great shooter nor fast enough for today's game. But she had more energy than the players of her day.
