Hmmm.

Shawshank Redemption is just a really good movie. Raising Arizona has always been able to suck me in no matter how often I've watched.Pulp Fiction can do that too. The Usual Suspects is right up there though you can only get the "surprise" ending once.

I have to be in the mood for it but American History X is pretty strong.

Damn, this is almost impossible.

In no particular order:

Shawshank
Rain Man
Citizen Kane
Tommy Boy
Schindler's List
Gone Baby Gone
Driving Miss Daisy

These are the movies that shaped me. Yes, even Tommy Boy. The end scene of Citizen Kane is crazy. I make friends watch Gone Baby Gone just to learn how they'd handle the ending. Morgan Freeman and Jessica Tandy's chemistry taught a crazy valuable lesson about people. As did the way Tom Cruise learned from Dustin Hoffman (who delivered one of the finest acting performances ever) in Rain Man.

I'll also add "Up" for honorable mention. If you don't cry in the first fifteen minutes, f you. You're without a soul. Any male that has ever been in charge of a kid will cry at the end too.

When I was little my sister was obsessed with "The Cutting Edge"

...I watched it a bunch, so much so that I could practically recite the entire movie script. It's one of those favs that I'm not super proud of, but I loved it.

Gettysburg

It's the first movie I remember going to the theater to see, and even as a kid I was always very interested in reading about and studying that battle.

It's hard to just pick one. Ignoring all genres Army of Darkness is my absolute favorite of all time. But the thing is there are certain movies I can watch no matter what, over and over. I like to think those are my favorites of all time..such as:

Star Wars 4,5,6,7
The Thing
Return Of The Living Dead
Robocop
Conan
Back To The Future 1/2
Evil Dead 2
Army of Darkness
Grandmas Boy
Dumb and Dumber
40 Year Old Virgin
Tombstone
Platoon
Good, The Bad, The Ugly
Pulp Fiction
Reservoir Dogs
Patriot
Last Of The Mohicans

But Army of Darkness..it has had the biggest impact on my life as weird as that sounds. It had zombies, Bruce Campbell, Medieval Knights, good sound track, amazing ending, and the one liners from Ash..man I basically quote that movie on a weekly basis..Groovy.

Jaws.

Why? The characters! It has just the right amount character development, just the right amount of suspense, just the right amount of build up, just the right amount tension, and just the right amount of graphic depiction. Plus I love the fact that the movie is cast with actors who look like normal, everyday people and not supermodels. That town and all the people who lived there was so believable! To me it is a perfect film in every way!

I don't think I have just one movie I like more than others as it fluctuates based on genre etc..

However if I was forced to watch one movie I would probably pick Back to the Future.

Moira Kelly was quite the vixen.

The Wild Bunch. Peckinpah’s ode to a dying breed of men and an era in American history. The violence and amorality perfectly balanced with comedy and loyalty. Perfectly cast, too.

Bring Me the Head of Alfredo Garcia. Brilliant story about a man determined to get one thing right in his life regardless of what horror he must endure or inflict on others.

The Killer and Hardboiled. Chow Yun Fat and John Woo at their best. Different types of gangster films but well executed. Pun intended.

Ichi the Killer. Filmmaking truly as art. Savage and savagely hilarious.

City of God. Beautiful film of desperate, doomed young men living and dying the slums of Rio. The story draws you in and breaks your heart.

Mine is The Blues Brothers. Kinda random I know lol I was about 13 the first time a watched it and remember thinking 'this is the greatest movie ever!' And I still feel that way. It sorta inspired me to play guitar and definitely started my love of blues music.

OH this is a classic!!! My dad and I have watched this probably 10 times together...funny
