I hear you. AAU ball in many areas is not about teaching, unfortunately. There are a lot of coaches looking for recognition and a little payday if a player makes it big. It's not just Memphis.

I agree. There is a guy who is on the Gary Parrish show in Memphis quite a bit, and he makes it clear that this is what goes on with these kids. These coaches/handlers are in it for their benefit as much as the kids.

Chism in my opinion.

I loved how he would trail the break and hit clutch 3's, well not against vandy :)

he also brought a lot of toughness and leadership, something I think both you guys and vandy are lacking this year.

Seriously, there have been a lot of really exciting guys to watch, but the combo of JuJuan Smith and Chris Lofton would be hard to beat.

One of the best individual performances I can remember is that UT vs. FLA game where C.J. Watson broke Johkim Noah's face. Awesome performance in an awesome game, IIRC.

Anfernee Hardaway at Memphis State was the best college basketball player I have seen. I loved Houston at Tennessee and he is my favorite Vol.

I only go back to Dyron Nix days so if I saw BK I am sure it would be him. 1. for me as Lofton, had season tix 3 of his years and have never enjoyed basketball more. 2. Houston 3. Del Baker non-Vols-Tayshaun Prince( I know it sounds odd) can't remember a non-vol I have seen in person who I enjoyed more, although I can't say I necc enjoyed it I guess. We lost in Rupp, but liked his game

A great moment. C.J. Watson is still, in my opinion, the most underrated Vol of the last decade, followed closely by JaJuan Smith. I still wonder what C.J. might have become had he not been hamstrung by an awful coach (for most of his career) and a terrible roster.

One of the very few benefits of being an old SOB is that I saw Bernard King play for the Vols when I was a kid. There has never been an even remotely close second.

I will co-sign this based purely on ESPN Classic footage. Bernard was otherworldly in his prime -- there was no way to stop that guy from scoring (and this at the NBA level). I would love love love to see some more footage of Bernard in college. Not sure how easy that would be to come by, though.

"the best scorer I've ever seen or played against."

Bernard King--who was fairly quiet and liked to wear black and say "sol-id, sol-id," if he passed you, was the best and most exciting UT player ever. (How we landed two of the best players in the NYC area is still a mystery to me.) Dale Ellis, second.
