Favorite Tennessee/Kentucky game memories

You know what's funny? I can immediately tick off a number of great memories from Alabama, Florida, and Georgia games past, but I can't think of a single one for Kentucky. They're in the same category as USCjr and Vandy, a school whose ass we just expect to kick year after year.

Perhaps it would be Levis suggesting we have a gimmick offense before we humiliated him and shoved the words down his throat.

2007 overtime game. I remember listening to it on the radio with my family on the way back from a road trip. One of my fav Vol memories of all time.
Is that the blocked field goal game? I remember being at that game in Lexington.

I remember being 12 years old and at Disney World and I couldn't believe my birthday got messed up by losing to Kentucky. Thankfully, it took until I was 39 for it to happen again.

2001 comeback. Season looked like it was on the was on the verge of being lost after falling behind 21-0. I’ll also throw in the 2019 goal line stand and the 1997 shootout between Manning and Couch.

Yeah, this has to be number 1. I was 15, cared way way too much about football, and had all but lost hope. Otherwise, not really many memories of Kentucky games. I did enjoy the Levis tears but I wouldn't exactly call that a significant memory.

It felt like we won a lot of ugly football games against Kentucky in the 90s and 2000s.
I remember the ‘95 game in Lexington. Moe Williams and Billy Jack Haskins both had career days. Tennessee won 34-31 or 35-31. I made the point a few weeks ago that most of the games in Lexington the past 30 or so years have been very competitive. I expect the same thing this Saturday.

The most memorable game in the series, from Tennessee's viewpoint, was the 7-0 victory in 1950 over the undefeated Kats that were coached by Paul Bear Bryant. The victory propelled Tennessee to an SEC championship and a date in the Cotton Bowl with Texas, which Tennessee won. Personally, the most memorable Kentucky game for me was the first one I saw back in 1968, won by Tennessee 24-7.

I think UK is one of 2 schools I’ve never seen us play in person. It was always Thanksgiving weekend when I was in school. My favorite memory watching on tv would be 2007 winning in overtime and winning the East.
