Last year was sweet. Will never forget Donte' Stallworth's performance in 2001 either.

The most memorable game in the series, from Tennessee's viewpoint, was the 7-0 victory in 1950 over the undefeated Kats that were coached by Paul Bear Bryant. The victory propelled Tennessee to an SEC championship and a date in the Cotton Bowl with Texas, which Tennessee won. Personally, the most memorable Kentucky game for me was the first one I saw back in 1968, won by Tennessee 24-7.

I loved the days of few bowl games. There was always a chance 2 SEC schools who didn't play in the regular season meeting in a bowl game. Even in the early 70s, there were only 10 bowl games. Rose, Cotton, Orange, Sugar, Gator, Bluebonnet, Sun, Liberty, Peach, Tangerine and Fiesta, which was established in 1972-1974 range pitting the WAC against a Power 5 who didn't win their conference.

Whatcha got?

2001 in Lexington.

My son decided to go with a friend so I gave him my 2 tickets in the UT section and bought two for my wife and I, in the Kentucky side around the 30 yard line. On about row 5. UK jumped out to a 21-0 lead real quick and I had a ball with the UK fans all around me. They were ecstatic on how UK was hammering the Vols. BUT, the best was yet to come. Vols roared back to beat the Cats 38-35. Was a great time. Fans around us were very friendly even after losing.

2014 I took the fam to Knoxville to their first game at Neyland. We sat under the north upper deck for the first half. The Vols spanked Kensucky, and it was cold as crap, so we ended up moving to the north upper deck and sat in the nicer chair back seats for the rest of the game.

50-16 was the final score. My son was 5 and my daughter was 8.

I wish we could go back but life always gets in the way.

I bought 6 beers for two bits before kick off that day.

I would go with 2021 for a really good recent game against KY and 1997 if we are talking old school.

I remember going to a JV game I think in 1981? at Neyland against UK and a big brawl broke out near the end of the game...Those JV games were fun and FREE!...Saw them play a lot of good teams back then.

second half of 95 and 97 were glorious (and a little dangerous in 97) times to be in Lexington (wife and I were the only orange specks sitting in a sea of blue)

2009 was another good one. Fulton product Dennis Rogan had a hell of a game helping the Vols win in OT 30-24. IIRC Hardesty ran the ball almost 40 times and rushed for 3 TDs as well.

I was in Neyland long about somewhere between 78 and 80, it was pretty cold, their QB was Fanuzzi. For the whole 1st half, KY gals in front of me were screeching, "Let's go FANUZZIIIII" It was annoying. However, we had a DE or OLB, I believe it was Ron McCartney, who kept messing up Fanuzzi's day with multiple sacks. I wasn't ugly about it, but I did guffaw and hoot every time. I think it was early in the 3rd, the blue-shirts picked up and left. LOL.

Edit: Must have been earlier than I remembered ... maybe 1974? That would jive with when both Fanuzzi and McCartney were near their peaks.

that facemask wasn't in regulation... it was like in the 4th OT or so
Could be. I just remember the rule hadn't been changed yet and they basically got to tackle by any means necessary and the penalty didn't carry over to the next period.

I think UK is one of 2 schools I’ve never seen us play in person. It was always Thanksgiving weekend when I was in school. My favorite memory watching on tv would be 2007 winning in overtime and winning the East.
Come to think of it . . . I'm in kind of the same boat. I've seen us play everybody except Kentucky. I've seen UK play SC live, but never went to the TN/UK game.

When Gene Etter score the winning TD against a really good Kentucky football in I believe 1960. There was about 6 inches of snow on the field and Tennessee.s football was not very good. Etter came to Tennessee on a baseball scholarship but Tennessee,s football was void of a lot of talent. He switched to football and was able to beat a team coached , I think, by the Bear. One of the biggest upsets in that era. I was a student then and could not believe we won that game.

The first Tennessee game I ever went to was with my brother for Tennessee vs Kentucky.

Neither of us had a car at the time and we got the tickets for dirt cheap. We walked from around west high school to Neyland that morning and enjoyed the vol walk and entered Neyland for the first time. We sat by 2 Kentucky fans who were drunk but super nice for the most part. After the first half they told us watch out as Kentucky was the best 2nd half team in the league. Tennessee ended up rolling more and they left halfway through the 4th.

My brother and I have shared many game experiences together but our first will always stick out.

Found it.

This is my favorite. I was in Kentucky with ally family, and they were giving me crap, was sure they were about to win. Thankfully, it didn't work out for them!
