Trovon Reed was Auburn most of the way. LSU was doing their best but if I remember correctly he was verbal to Auburn, it was not a last minute thing.

There has to be some sensationalism in there. I'm most interested in the fact that the FBI may be holding some of the info on their TARP related wiretaps that they collected long before any of this broke. That is fanscinating.

LSU- you may have been dead on about the dangers of AU playing Newton last Saturday.

Well, the thing is... you have to know something big is going on. The first thing the university is suppose to do when they get information that the player might be ineligible is to immediately sit him. When all the stuff came out last week and they didn't sit him, then it was revealed that the NCAA gave Auburn a warning and they still played him. Well, at that point you have to figure you have some serious nutbags running the show.

I would imagine Cam is by far not the only kid getting money there.

I felt bad for Auburn until Saturday, now I would suspect they are fully aware of what is going on. If they screw up the SECC and BCSC and Heisman, I say kick their program to the curb... mothball it.

The whole thread has information that is, in some degree, accurate. There are a lot of things that are speculated on at this point that no one knows but the Feds. This whole thing has been going on for over a decade and Cam Newton is just a little part of what has been going on down on the plains. I am just convinced that, much to the chagrin of the Auburn family, this isnt going to be resolved by Friday like they think.

Not sure what good it would do if they didnt play him. They seem to be screwed either way. At least if they let him play and win, they get a little bit of joy before their world comes crashing in on them.

Pure speculation but I'm wondering if the AA advised AU to sit him. I'm almost leaning toward that at this point.

There sure is alot of smoke around on this one, It's a nice expose into the depth of sleaze in big time athletics. Just so happens that, for Auburn, there must have been a Bama grad working the FBI field office for this one.

That thread a whole lot of speculation that more or less works well for tying everything together, but overall it lines things up pretty well, IMO. We shall see soon enough.

And AU is basically going for broke, realizing that once the sheets are taken off the bed they are up sh-t creek anyhow?

There was rumor that AD Jacobs thought to sit him, but was pressured by Dye and others to play him. It is a well known fact that Pat Dye still runs that town. I dont know if it is true that Jacobs was pressured, but its not that unbelievable imo.

I would be interested in hearing from Terry on this whole situation, much like what was mentioned in the TD thread. I'm sure he could shed a good bit of light on the whole situation.

Looks like Auburn did nothing more than assemble a bunch of cheaters for coaches and recruiters. Guys that would go along with Lowder's pay for play scheme. I'd be surprised if any of these current coaches are there next year.
They're going to effectively kill their program for a long time. Enjoy this year boys, bad times are coming.

if all this is true, AL must be one of the most corrupt states in the country. According to this report, Chizick didn't know about it so he may have been lied to and that's the reason he played Cam. These 'big players' need to be punished as harshly as possible if indeed this web of corruption is proven to be true. There are many reputable people at AU and for it to be destroyed by unscrupulous crooks is pathetic. It could happen at any university so we need to hold our administration accountable and demand integrity in our athletic programs. How sad that Cam's collegiate experience will be forever tainted by this scandal and maybe he was not aware of everything....if true, his father is a poor excuse for a man. All for the love of money...Cam will probably make a lot of money eventually but what about HONOR? What a devastating scenario for young people to observe and how disgusting that our society can be so corrupted by greed and dishonesty. I am not naive and nothing really shocks me anymore but I am sickened by what college sports has become..God help us!

Anyone that believes that Cam had no idea this was going on is very naive imo.

Please. Cam is a piece of garbage just like his father. The cheating at UF and stolen laptop dealings are likely the tip of the iceberg.

Auburn is ignoring the fact he's pretty much ineligible right now, they're all in. Man they have some true idiots running that program. I'd be very pissed if i were a Auburn fan right now. They want a championship so bad they're willing to cut their own throats for the next decade to get it. They all must have unibrows, it is Alabama afterall.

Well, I have had plenty of time dealing with delusional fans... LSU has a ton of them, have to put up with their BS on LSU forums. However, with that said, I have never experienced some of what the delusional Auburn fans are saying on their forums. They really think Auburn and Cam is going to come smelling like Irish Spring.

I would do exactly what AU is doing until absolutely directed otherwise.
