I would do exactly what AU is doing until absolutely directed otherwise.

That is dumb. Auburn is responsible for control, not the NCAA. When the NCAA comes in, they take in account your failure to act. If all schools did not regulate themselves, well there is no way for the NCAA to do it all. Which is why you will see the super hammer. Zeroing out the year is the least of Auburns problems now, that is a given. The NCAA has already given Auburn a shot across the bow, the funny things no warning shot has to be given.

You are basically getting into SMU territory now.

Auburn will not be mitigating the damage if any of this proves true. They'll be teetering on death penalty type sanctions, so saving that extra scholarship us meaningless.

Man I hope that even a quarter of what was in that thread is true because if it is we won't have to worry about hearing about any of our investigations being mentioned on ESPN for months.

Yeah they're tying to play victim, but no one is buying it anymore. It's pretty easy to connect the dots even for the average fan. I doubt Cecil had a come to god moment and let his kid play at the barn for free, when he's trying to whore him out to anyone that will listen.
They ever connect anyone with that church donation from Auburn it is truly over. FBI sneaking around, i bet they figure it out.

Unknown.
The penalty will be much harsh due to their ignoring the responsibilities. If you don't believe that, you don't know how the NCAA works.

LSU was paying players last year, by a coach. No NCAA investigation no sanctions. Why?

Auburn's punishment will be reflective of their ongoing blatant rule breaking.

Cam getting paid is not the problem. Players get paid quite often and are caught, many of the penalties are very minor. However, a school that loses institutional control is a different matter all together.

They continue to play him, good, one less team to worry about for 10-20 years.

AU's only saving grace might be the potential to separate Cam from Cecil and pretend that a Chinese wall existed between the two. Without substantial proof, Cam can't be implicated with his dad. AU is in trouble, but they might find the kid to be truthful and tread lighter.

If they are linking TARP funds to this they will put the screws to Cecil and he will sing like a canary.

You should have stopped the shathouse attorney bit after the first word. You don't know enough about this situation or the AA to keep talking, so don't.

If 1/3 of this stuff is right, they lost control along time ago.

If they sit Cam now it would equal stealing a car, wrecking it, and bringing it back to its owner in one of those 4x4 metal squares you see at a junk yard.

Oh yeah they'll go straight to the horses mouth. He may end up in jail, then he'll have plenty of time too come to god.

They likely already have. The FBI will generally finish its case then cut the dragon's head off rather than piecemeal it. That's why 34 Paisans get simultaneous 4:30 AM wake up calls on Long Island every few years.

I'm not convinced that they are sharing anything with the NCAA at present, they have their own fish to fry ATM. That said, I'm sure there will be more than a small amount of overlap between the two investigations.

WTF are you talking about?

You are the only person I know that thinks if you steal a penny and then say you might as well rob the bank down the street since it doesn't matter. It does.

Unknown, it would be speculation at this point.

The for sure lost control last week, if it's a bigger problem their program is gone and I would not be surprised by them getting kicked out of the SEC.

How do you say the first, then follow with the second.

If the second is even remotely true, its a lot deeper than "to play Cam, or not".

If Auburn could save their program by sitting him, I imagine they would have done it. IMO, that leads you to think this is a lot deeper.

John Grisham is behind all of this. That is the only explanation. An overly complicated story involving corruption, gambling, bribery, and many other nefarious acts set in Alabama and Mississippi. All we are lacking is a 12 year old boy who witnessed it all that Auburn is trying to murder.

At least this was sensible. If my point was that hard for you, we're finished.

post from "W&L" this morning...

Don’t know if true but supposedly ESPN is getting ready to blow the Cam story wide open this afternoon—Herbie Fowler and EA are in T-town for a Thursday night game against Ga St. Speculation is that they are going to run big story on 5:00 sportscenter and discuss during the Bama game. Indictments allegedly coming on Friday for several prominent AU boosters—wiretaps from gaming investigation may have caught conversations with AU coaching staff (including your favorite former UT asst. coach Trooper), boosters/AU Trustees (McGregor (gaming) and Lowder (Colonial Bank)) as well as Pat Dye. If true, first one to sing gets the get out of jail free card—some people are looking at major jail time for bribing public officials in their efforts to lobby for changes to Alabama’s gaming laws so I think the AU stuff is small but the tax evasion and money laundering might be what is getting the attention of the feds (Colonial Bank was one of the largest bank failures in recent history—like 3 billion big failure—so they are trying to see how $ flowing to AU and player’s families from Colonial may have been misappropriated and if $ continued to flow as alleged once TARP funds went to Colonial, some folks associated with AU—not just Bobby Lowder—may get to write war eagle across their orange jumpsuits. If I’m Cecil Newton, I sell all these rednecks down the river to save my a$$--ask the feds to wait until January before issuing any indictments; say thanks for the $200K; have Cam take his Heisman and go pro leaving AU holding a giant bag of $hit.

by the way, the "as the plains burn" post has gotten around to the espn guys. Someone over at tigerdroppings.com said he emailed it to Joe Schad, and a Georgia buddy of mine emailed it to Mark Schlabauch. Both responded that it is circulating there....
