Fear the Walking Dead

The end of season 3 was freaking awesome. I thought they had something going. The first few episodes of season 4 were pretty good but its trailed off significantly to a snoozer. It's like when they have a good story arc, they rush through it and go slow through the boring sh*t.

I guess I'm watching this show now just to see how bad it gets. And this last episode may have been the dumbest they've done yet.

How did Jim get bit in the back when the walker was in front of him the whole time?

Plus there's no way he wouldn't have known or it not been obvious. If he was bitten through his shirt, then the shirt would have been bloodied and you could see where the bite happened. If not, then we're supposed to believe his shirt was raised up that high in the scuffle and somehow he was bitten without him realizing it. It was just stupid.

Also stupid was the whole crazy lady's "origin" story. So she goes crazy because nobody was stopping to help her husband during the beginning of the outbreak, even though he was going to die no matter what and apparently as a result of her terrible driving. Plus she gets shot with a shotgun blast and is knocked down in the back of the SWAT van, but instead of anyone running up and taking her out or at least knocking her out, they all turn around and stare at the walkers slowly coming towards them and wait almost 30 seconds before they turn around to deal with her. On Reddit there's a post that even points out you can see crazy lady in the background get up and wait for her cue to talk.

Oh and I guess the walker are back to "normal" behavior this week, as they kept coming to where the gunshots and explosion was and didn't need constant gunfire and explosions or else they'd turn back like last week.

When they were laying on the ground after crashing through the glass. Jim reached for an object to stab him and the walkers head disappeared behind Jim.
I asked my wife"how did he not get bitten right then"? Well....

He didn't feel a bite? How did it lift up his shirt to take the bite?

I have no idea about him feeling anything.
Maybe adrenaline? I've been several fights where I didn't feel the punches when they happened. Did later of course.
Not sure what you're asking about the shirt? Are you saying they can't bite through shirts or what?

If he was bitten through the shirt, there should have been some sort of evidence; torn where the bite occured, blood stains where the bite occurred, etc. There was nothing like that, in fact he had 2 shirts on and the one on top was buttoned. There was no evidence on the outside of his shirt that he had been bitten or bleeding.

So that means his shirt would have had to been pulled up, pretty high I might add, for the walker to bite him. I rewatched the scene and I guess it had a chance to bite him but again, his shirt would have had to be pulled up to expose the skin and it wasn't in the shot right before it. I'm really not buying he wouldn't react to a bite. Carl is the only one I think think of that didn't but that was shot differently and Carl seemed to know pretty immediately he was bitten.

And yeah I know, you can say it's a zombie show and all that, but to me it was lazy writing and cheap way to pull the "hidden bite" trick again, and this time they did it in a way that honestly didn't seem to be possible in the way they set it up.

I just assumed the walkers head was between the one shirt and the under shirt. Biting through the under and being covered by the other when he stood?

Last week, they had a Ford Ranger roll 15 ft into the water in one scene, switched cameras and the truck was back on land with only two tires in the water.

Just surprised that Jim's jacket covering the shirt underneath is what you find impossible lol

I'm not sure what you're talking about "when he stood". The bite happened when they were on the floor. If you go back and watch, you can see the moment they are saying he got bit, the walker does a very quick biting motion, when he's lunging for the scissors to stab it. Second, the shirt was buttoned, there's no way the walker's head could get between the button up shirt and under shirt.

And yes, I find it impossible...because it was the way they set it up. Like I said, it was a very cheap way to do the "hidden bite" trick, only this time it made no sense based on where the bite happened.

I meant the buttoned one was slightly raised (especially after reaching, mine does)and went back down when he stood.
Or as I call it , gravity.

Either way man, I see weak writing and mistakes on this and about every show, every week. Are you gonna be that guy that watches the show he doesn't like, just so he can rant lol.

If I am, I invite you to ignore what I have to say; otherwise, you're apparently that guy who has to constantly complain about other people pointing out silly parts he doesn't deem important enough to point out.

Wow, you're taking this way more seriously than I am.
Watch it "just to see how bad it gets" and complain until your heart's content. And I find a shirt raising when someone reaches mildly plausible, oh well.

No, just find having these same type of conversations over and over in the WD threads tiresome.

Ok. So you watch shows you don't like and post in threads that have conversations that you find tiresome. Any hobbies you enjoy?

And no, this wasn't a serious comment either before you go all uptight again. Lol

So we went from taking down an entire gang from season 3 to not even being able to handle psycho old hag? Sure has gone down hill without Nick lol

eh, i still like fear. they are following similar paths as TWD, and that's a tad annoying. and yeah, there are holes in every episode.

but for the most part, i like the cast, i like the characters and i'm sort of interested where they take the story from here. to me, this season feels a bit like the season of TWD where they all got split up and had to leave the prision and all found themselves on the way to terminus.

with the way the show changed, cast wise, they kinda had to spend some time developing the characters and their new relationships. the good news, they haven't had an episode per character, dragging things out for weeks before you get back to the crux of the story.

and for that, i thank you.

The show sucked when Nick got shot but the actor wanted to leave apparently anyway. If that wasn't bad enough they then decided they just HAD to kill off Madison. Jim getting bit was dumb especially when they showed where the bite was. I myself was questioning when exactly that happened. In the end it doesn't matter, he got bit and now he's dying.

Killing off Madison after Nick had already been killed was a dumb move. She wasn’t my favorite character but she was the anchor. Now we are down to 2 characters from S1 and one from S2 (who was barely in S3). They have all been reduced to 3rd string so Morgan can take the lead but Morgan sucks. June and Al suck. John is OK.

Definitely "different strokes". My wife and I really liked TWD and thought Fear was okay. Until this year. Now we both are really enjoying Fear and not looking forward to TWD. Wasn't thrilled about Nick dying but killing off Madison and bringing in fresh characters, left us enjoying the show more than previously.
But to be honest, I've been hoping for Madison's death for 2 seasons.
