Fearing Obama

I wonder if anyone in Congress did any fact checking or research on the situation before just blindly following the administration on going to war with Iraq? They are all guilty of being stupid.

Finally, I think under either administration we are close to the end of major involvement in Iraq. The situation is stabilizing to the point where we can withdraw for the most part. We would not be at this point without the Surge.

We were watching a great movie that quickly turned horrible, gory, violent, depressing, miserable.

We hit the pause button. And it's still costing us to do that - not nearly as bad as watching it, but still not great.

We could pop the DVD out and take it back to the store, never to look at it again, and not ask for our money back, and move on. Or we could continue to pay and wait for the inevitable - watching the horror continue, for how long, we don't know.

Not to mention the reason we rented the movie in the first place turned out to be irrelevant, that nobody really knows why we rented that movie in the first place, and that there are many other movies worth watching before this one.

some did, and they opposed it.

we can only guess that those who actually fact checked it and still supported it took a major gamble to get some pork for themselves, or maybe they were just stupid, as you say.

Do you honestly believe Iraq is that bad?

If only life was that simple? The need to stay in Iraq is as great as the need never to have gone in the first place.

So you want Biden a "heartbeat away" from the president (he supported it ya know)

a very healthy, young, intelligent heartbeat, no less.

Biden was wrong on invading.

Just like McCain.

Unlike Barack.

Do you honestly believe Iraq is that bad?

Inside the green zone, it's all Burger King and Cheesecake factory and rich American contractors saving up to buy a sweet home theater when they return stateside. Outside that, I don't think it's a happy place right now.

I believe we're incredibly arrogant and naive to think that we can correct centuries of animosity between rival tribes in 6 years of battle. And I don't think it's any of our damn business.

And I think that when we pull the band-aid off, there's still going to be a major wound there, just like there was before we put more boots on the ground.

We should have been in Darfur a long time ago.

amen.

if democracy and freedom and human rights were the goals, darfur is one of about 15 places that were higher on the list.

if nuclear threat were, there were several others much, much more risky to us.

I still have no freaking clue why we went to Iraq. Oil seems like the easy answer, but were they really so blatant? I think delusion is the only one I can come up with.

And there's the conundrum. Whose boots are going to be on the ground to replace ours?

That's my point. We didn't go to Iraq to liberate the country because Sadaam treated them bad. If so, there are several other places we can go.

I agree we should've never have gone into Iraq. My bad on the first one though, I thought you were stating we should be in Darfur anyway.

to support the profits of the BK-Baghdad?

how about we find a stable, albeit potentially ruthless leader to create some stability. Oh wait...

Here's a brief rundown of how things went in Iraq:

Day 1: Yay! No more saddam!
Day 2: Rumsfeld: Freedom is untidy (uh, wuh?)
Day 3: EVERYONE'S BEING BLOWED UP
Day 4: EVERYONE'S STILL BEING BLOWED UP

...
Day 700: EVERYONE'S STILL BEING BLOWED UP
etc...

So no matter how awesome Day 1 was, Day 2 through present has been an unmitigated disaster.*

Why are the people of Iraq so ungrateful. What a bunch of whiners!!

*This does not include The Surge which was "teh awesomest thing evah" for some reason.
