Federal Indictment of Donald Trump

If everyone in DC were investigated, I bet at least 95% would deserve to face prison time. Hell, it wouldn't surprise me if every living President deserved to face jail time. Clinton, Bush, Obama, Trump, Biden..... We could have an executive wing at Leavenworth.

Optimist. They'd run off an honest person.

I’d say it would be 100% of them. It would probably be that way at the local level as well. Once they get elected, they have to play ball. One of Knox County’s Commissioners has a not for profit flower company. It’s essentially a shell corporation as they are constantly having “fundraisers” hosted by Knoxville’s elite. Much of that money goes back into his pockets and he does their bidding for them.

Most people have committed crimes of some sort. Actually, I doubt anyone over the age of 20 has not committed SOME type of crime.

The issue is whether Trump simply.possessed these documents illegally on a technical level, or whether he was up to something and if in fact he intentionally and knowingly obstructed their lawful return.

thanks for the recap..Never would of figured it after 6600 posts.

The levels of review involved in something like this, knowing what they'd be accused of and feeling that the national security implications were too significant to let it continue .... no. I have no concerns.

My only concern is how the facts come out. The Trump cult has to be told when it comes time why it is that Trump is in handcuffs.

Because you are such a sucker for the lies that sound sweet to your ears. It matters not whether they are true, only that they control the narrative during a time when people are making up there minds about elections that do matter. Meanwhile, you are their servile thrall, happily blindfolded.

I have not convicted him in my mind, but when you look at all of the circumstances, it is mighty suspicious.

Bah, you are too smart to know differently - thats why I say you are blind. There is nothing suspicious here at all. It is quite blatantly a political hit job to use a process crime to try to invalidate a political rival from running for election.

I am as sure as you are that they will be able to find some technical violation that they will be able to construe as a serious legal breach, even if the materials themselves are relatively banal. And it is equally true that were it anyone else than a President, that would be de rigueur.

It is not as if Trump packed these up himself but his signoff on his team doing so - and I am sure he probably said something to the effect to have them all declassified (because why not?, he can) but of course the question remains whether they were all actually declassified - and on looking at the list GSA sent as well as having the agents visit over the last months, I am sure they were able to identify some things that the paperwork never completed on.

But again, you dont actually care about the facts, only how you are able to manipulate them to your benefit - but to be fair, you are a lawyer so perhaps thats a professional calling and less a defect than a feature.

If its just the "process crime" of possessing them and no damage was done then I would agree it does not merit jail time. We can debate whether that should disqualify him from running again.

But if he was either 1) doing something with the documents, or 2) if he was personally involved in refusing to return them when asked then that is where the rubber meets the road in my mind for actively seeking some sort of significant criminal sanction.

Political Hit Job or not. Trump did some good things in office and he did some bad. I don't care if he is indicted or not. A Witch Hunt it makes no difference. Based on the information so true or not so true. It is Trump and all this Chaos and Confusion that constantly surrounds his sphere makes him totally unfit for the job or any public office.
Take in the whole of Trump not just one incident and it is easy to see. He needs to retire and so do many others.

lawgator your problem is simply a lack of imagination and that you suffer from the vestiges of a moral human core. Political operatives do not have those defects. They understand that what they are doing is so important that ANYTHING is permissible and so can allow their mind to be more creative.

For example, Fetterman in the PA race just smartly agreed to a debate with his Rep opponent Dr Oz. Fetterman of course is the trust fund baby faux populist who had a stroke and now can barely string sentences along and every interaction is well guarded by his staffers. People were beginning to see that he is not capable to serve office, irrespective of his political views, and his dodging debates was beginning to be proof to some middle voters. But will he actually debate? Not likely. His handlers understand they have no intention of it. BUT - meanwhile, before the supposed date in late October that Oz will stupidly agree to, 1/2 to 2/3 of people will have voted early, meaning that it would have no bearing on their vote. Then, at the last minute, he will dodge that debate as well, because the poor man is suffering from the aftermath of a stroke. But having a D in office is far more important than his life or silly principles of representing the people of PA.

In the same vein, you tend to think the DOJ at least believes they have something more serious or why would they go through all this trouble and effort? But no, the AG at least is probably well aware that he does not, BUT HE DOESNT CARE BECAUSE WINNING IS MORE IMPORTANT. So with this he can drag through the midterms and hopefully use it to disqualify Trump. When you did not see what they did to Michael Flynn as raw politik (no statement on his policies but the method used to remove him), no different than Russians play, it demonstrates that you have become more blind to it than you think.

Yeah, your opinion is clearly the only one around here people seem to think has any meaning.

If you’ll explain this to a certain poster in the recruiting forum, I’ll be able to take him off ignore and won’t have to view the RF as a logged out guest.
