Fergusons Dad on TSR

Remember Foster Mom? She had to come on here to defend her son from some of these "Vol Fanz". How did he do when he got to the Texans? These "keyboard commandos" can do a lot of harm. Please remember that when you're commenting on Worley or any of these kids.
The Vols are in a MAJOR rebuilding mode. Give them a chance.
Give em hell Butch!

Sounds like he was trying to insulate Riley from future roastings on VN, which I would do too for my son. Probably been reading the threads on Worley.

All the more reason not to START him in the Swamp. We do not need our up and coming 18 year old QB introduced to the SEC against one of the elite defenses in the nation. I don't want to see him whipped all over the field then trashed on VN. Give him some game time in the right situation absolutely but we don't need any more setbacks like a gunshy 18 year old second guessing his ability.

I'm a big fan of honest evaluation and critique.

But there's no need for demeaning, insulting, and disparaging comments about individuals who wear the orange and give their all for Tennessee.

Can we try to say what we need/want to say WITHOUT using words that humiliate and viciously criticize our own players?

I have two kids. Hearing Riley's Dad talk is a good reminder that when we talk about players, we are talking about someone's son.

Just my .02

Been telling such numbskulls for a long time, they're the best recruiting tools for opponents coaches you could ever ask for. But the nitwits just don't get it.

Its not like it only happens at UT. If you think thats the case you might want to reconsider calling other people numbskulls and nitwits. Just sayin

Hey, recruit! Look at volnation.com and see what 5 or 6 guys are saying about you! That totally changes your opinions on coaching ability, facilities, academic opportunity and distance from your home... right?

Right?

Right?

I think people jabbering on a website have an overinflated idea about how little they matter. The odd parent/player may get their jimmies rustled but the vast majority don't care.

I watched the E 11 when he was on it. He threw a darn good ball. Just from what I saw prior to his broken thumb, I would say his arm is the closest one to Bray. Hope with time he has PMs head and TMs luck.

Is that possible?

I don't know about all the other stuff but there was a little tidbit in there about him trying to model after Payton, and if I'm not mistaken I remember Butch saying some things about him studying film and his habits that reminded me about things that were said about Payton...it may sound contrite but I gotta admire a guy who at least try's to pattern his behavior after one of the all time greats

Can you imagine the outrage if Riley started against Florida. Man handled them.

Poor ole CBJ would never live it down for not starting the kid sooner.

All I can do is trust the staff.

I'm no football guru but I just don't see it in Worley. It's not his type of offense for him to be successful. He knows the pressure he's under at UT. He knows the fans expect more. Maybe it's just in his head.

Idk.

Peterman is going to win the competition for the UF game but if he stinks it up I expect and WANT Riley in.

Let him learn the book watch film and having live bullets at him will help. Just go through the lumps while we have a line that can protect him and watch this 2014 class come in.

My son is very similar. You can put him in mock situations. He acts so so. You put him in real life deals. Something that's for the "money" It's a different mind set. Kids know the difference.

My boy is 11.

I thought Mr Ferguson should have tooted his son's horn more than he did. His mention of Riley not being much a runner probably didn't help much. He says Riley isnt Michael Vick.

Parents need to stay the hell off the radio especially those involved in a QB controversy. There is no place for it even if thier comments are appropriate

Posted this in another forum. Nothing can be gained by parents going public

There's nothing wrong with a parent interviewing on the radio about his/her son. Parents, coaches and kids interview everyday. If they didn't fans wouldn't get information straight from the horses mouth. You sound like he broke some golden rule. Asides from that there's no QB controversy there's a competition. If his dad gets on the radio for a little positive PR so be it. That's what a good father does last time I checked. Stand up for there sons.

That interview really helped me to get to know Riley. Changed my view on the situation. I feel much more comfortable about our future at that position. Thx

I am really starting to like this Fergerson kid....we need that win at all costs attitude at QB...Worely is like a timid little rabbit out there..

I can't wait to see who is gonna be starting Saturday . Logic says it will be peterman but my gut feeling says ferguson. If he really has an arm like Bray and is as competitive as he is being made out to be he should be a very good qb.

More proof that the kids and parents read these sites. I sure wish some on where would keep their brutally ignorant rants and raves to themselves. We need to post things on here that we would not be afraid to say to the faces of the coach/player/their family.

Kudos to Riley's dad for telling it like it is. We have a great situation for the future at QB with 3 really talented freshmen.

You Praise his dad for telling it like it is but want fans to keep their rants to themselves. If fans on a message board cant voice their full opinion and tell it like they see it.....who can? Only fathers of players?
