Rediculous that the US. has come to this level of sensitivity. I can't belive there even changing. Think the reference to the Indian race is probably out of bounds (Braves,Indians, Seminoles). But an Old white dude dressed in a pair of slacks and a tie. Just don't see it.
I could be wrong, I haven't paid that much attention. Does anyone have a current picture of their mascot??
Anderson Co. is the worst at ripping off other teams. They stole their nickname from an NBA team, one of their logos from a DIFFERENT NBA team, and their football helmets from a college team.
Gee, I'd just as soon see them use a Confederate soldier as a mascot if they don't use 'ole Colonel Reb! The federal government has went to no end to rewrite history and brainwash the populace. They want people to believe a lie instead of finding out it was the largest taxpayer revolt this country has ever seen.
Chattanooga ditched Moccasins under the same type pressure.Ole Miss could have done better, IMO. When is the last time a black bear existed in Ms outside a zoo? They could have been the Delta Blues...it's their color and they could have come up with a good mascot and claimed what was founded there-a great American music. They could have been the Moccasins.... lowered* knows they have plenty down there (yeah, it's not new, but it would have been a decent nickname either with shoes or snakes). For all that....they could have stayed the Rebels if they hadn't insisted on tying it into the Confederacy and used some self-proclaimed "colonel" plantation owner (out of about 10,000 "colonel"s back then) as a mascot. Hale, even Robert Lee knew that was just stupid after millions of people in the country were dead, ruined or displaced as a direct result.
