Final Record

4-8 this year and likely next. Sorry to bring you down but the only winnable game left on our schedule is Kentucky. We played way over our heads tonight and remember, UGA was 1 dimensional with their 3rd string tailback playing. This was the game of the year for us and we couldn't get it done. The boots played their hearts out but couldn't close the deal. I have been to 2 games already and will be at least 2 more games this year, so you can't say I dont support the team.

So you DON'T think we're capable of beating South Carolina or Vanderbilt?

I still think it'll be 6-6 with a chance at 7-5. Although I like our chances more against SCjr, I'm a little more concerned with Mizzou than I was at the beginning of the season.

Capable? Most likely.

Will we find a way to hand the game to them? Even more likely.

Go Vols anyway

So much fail in this post. The team has gotten better each week.

You must be high on something. We beat SC, Auburn, Ketucky, Vandy and possibly Mizo.

Going to the games and rooting for the other team doesn't count.

I am about to drive another 2 hours but thought I would leave this to ponder on. After tonight we have seen the good. We know what we are capable of. I think there is no reason we should lose the last four and I think we could possibly pull an upset against against USCe. I saw great improvement tonight and gained a lot of confidence in our offense. Worley and the receivers seem to be coming around. After tonight I feel my prediction of the end record goes from 6-6 to 7-5 maybe 8-4 if we can upset So Carolina which I see very possible.

I think you are correct; however, I am cautiously optimistic. I recall in 2009, we beat UGA and almost beat #1 Bama, I thought we had a really good coached team. Then we bet beat by Ole Miss and beat by Va. Tech in the bowl game. Not that they beat us, but they really out played us.

In 2010, I saw us almost beat LSU in Baton Rouge or as the French say "Red Stick". I thought the season would be a good one, but then we lost five more games.

In 2012, we started the season on a week night, in Atlanta and our high potent offense beat N.C. State. I thought we would have a really good season because our offensive line was good, Bray was experienced, we were lights out at the receiver position and that was a convincing win. I was wrong.

Lesson learned: One game, win or lose, does not make a season.

I understand that completely. But the progress we are seeing week to week is encouraging

My call is and has always been 7-5 based on talent evaluations. Right now we have won every game we should, and lost every game we should. That means we are still on track:

6-6 is still going to be nearly impossible. Yesterday was fun but they were missing a lot of playmakers and we were 3 of 3 on 4th down conversions. Even if we beat VU and KY the other 2 games in November will be tough.

Making a bowl game means getting 3 SEC wins. Although I would love to beat SC just making a bowl would be nice. If our offense clicks like that the rest of the year, 7-5 is realistic.

Please, just stop...just straight up troll. Come back next year if you can't handle it.

Why have our fans become so jaded over the years to expect the worst instead of seeing the glimmer of hope this team has going into the SEC stretch?

Got a text from a Florida fan tonight. Said UT looked good and would have spanked his team had they played like they played last night. Also said we should be bowl eligible reasonably easy with the remainder of our schedule.

I have no stars in my eyes when looking at Bama. But with this two week break, the coach has a chance to motivate the team, bring them right back where they were before this game and show them that yes, they can and will go into these games with a fighting chance. As he is fond of saying, building a winning culture. It just takes a while to convince our players that yes, they can win. And yes, they will win. Yesterday was a psychological victory more than anything even in a loss. it showed the team they can go toe to toe with the top 25 teams and come away with their head held high. We put up a fight for 60 minutes and changed in that game. Blind man could see it in a heartbeat. Our team finally figured out they can win. And even though it was a loss, they have finally proved to themselves they are capable of standing toe to toe with the big boys and coming off strong.

This ain't the Dooley era Vols. You aren't going to see the Normandy speeches or growing bamboo or teams shutting down in the third quarter. But what you are going to see is a motivational coach that believes in this team and what they are capable of. And will continue to push the team behind the scenes towards victory and regaining our rightful place in college ball. And teams that will play hard and come away with more W's than L's.

No, he does speak the truth Grand Vol. Not to take anything away from our guys because they did play their hearts out. However only a fool would say that Gurley and Marshall being out didn't factor into being a huge advantage for us. I don't think any reasonable person wouldn't say that if Gurley and Marshall are healthy and in that game, the results would probably have been much different.

So for a fact you know Marshall and Gurley would have tipped the balance of the game? You can say with absolute certainty? Because I sure can't. Nobody can for that matter. It's football and sometimes the talent isn't there on the field. I think that's covered in one of the Maxims actually. Play for and make the breaks...

And my point is, it's taking everything the coach has to shake the loser mentality of the team they have been living with the past three years. And teaching the team them they can win.

Can't say the same thing about some of our fans shaking the loser mentality. Good thing CBJ doesn't have to do that.

It's not loser mentality. It's just the reality of things Grand Vol. Look I understand that part of winning is taking advantage of the opposing team's weaknesses. I don't claim to have a crystal ball for God's sake! That's why if you go back and read my post I said that "if Gurley and Marshall are healthy and in that game, the results would PROBABLY have been much different."
