That if Alabama beats Georgia, they should both be in the playoffs. Sorry FSU, your ACC championship doesn’t mean you are one of the four best teams in the country, and that’s the purpose of the playoffs. He calls the ACC championship game is for a participation trophy.

If Bama beats UGA they’ll spin it that Jordan Travis’ injury dropped them out of the top 4 even if they go undefeated. Sucks for FSU.

Of course, Finebaum would say that. But the truth is the SEC was down this year. We don’t deserve to have two teams in the tournament. The clearest path forward is for Georgia to win and represent the SEC. If Bama wins, I think Bama should go in Georgia should be left out.

Part of Finebaum's job is to lobby for the SEC, is it not?
I don't know, I can't understand Paul with Saban and Sankey in his mouth.

I do know Paul is prolly still fuming and crying that Clemson beat Saban's azz in 2 of 3 championship games. Hellva participation trophy.

The SEC will not get two teams in this year. If Bama were to beat UGA -

- There will be a team from the Big 10. Michigan or OSU. If UM loses to Iowa (shouldn't happen), OSU will be in. They will be ranked higher than Bama.
- Washington or Oregon will be in the final 4.
- FSU if they beat Louisville should be there. You don't leave an undefeated team out of the four.

Assuming Michigan, Washington, FSU and Bama win - that leaves the following teams with 1 loss -

- Bama
- Georgia
- Texas
- Ohio State

No way you take UGA over Bama as they just lost to them. Texas beat Bama at Bama, so you don't take Bama over Texas. I think four is Texas or possibly OSU. If it is a close lose to Bama, I suppose the committee could take UGA - I think they need someone who can beat Michigan, so they don't have to deal with a vacated National Champion later.

It gets even more crazy if Oregon were to beat Washington. Now you have Washington in the mix with 1 loss. And if UM were to lose to Iowa, well there is then another 1 loss team to consider.

What would really be interesting, especially if you like total chaos is for the following to happen:

- Iowa beats Michigan
- Bama beats UGA
- Oregon beats Washington
- Louisville beats FSU

Now we have a host of 1 loss teams. Oregon is probably in but who are the others? I think that probably gets both Bama and Texas in (assuming Texas beats Ok State). Then either UM or OSU is number 4. UGA with a loss to Bama would need Texas to lose and hope the committee takes 2 SEC teams instead of two PAC or B1G teams.

This is the last year for the PAC and they have been missing in action - so could be the year they get two in - if Oregon beats Washington.

I think the more likely scenario is NO SEC teams verses TWO.

If Bama beats Georgia they will both get in and I would bet money on it.

Other teams would need to lose. Good chance we come out of next weekend with Michigan and FSU undefeated. And if Oregon beats Washington, they have beat the team that beat them. And you can't select Bama over a 1 loss Texas.

SEC is considered to be down this year given that Texas BEAT Bama. It could all go back to that game.

And least we forget FSU dismantled LSU.

Those two losses the first week is what is going to be the downfall of the SEC this year if next week plays out a certain way. And I am so ready for both Bama and UGA to be on the outside looking in.

Going to be hilarious if there are 8 1-loss teams after championship weekend and they have to decide which 4 deserve to play in the CFP. This has 2007 BCS written all over it.
Bama doesn't deserve to be included. Their Birmingham officiating crews' crooked interference in games makes Bama ineligible. Bama's record is falsified.

Even if they lose to Georgia, Saban’s ass will be whining the next day on the selection show about how they still deserve to be in with two losses.

Best imaginable scenario would be bama getting left out after beating Georgia.

That said the committee has a responsibility to find the four best teams. Florida state without Hunter isn’t one of the four best.

I understand that Georgia had scheduled to play Oklahoma on the road this season, but the SEC forced them to cancel the game. They did not have time to schedule a quality out-of-conference opponent in Oklahoma's place. So, this wasn't their fault .... but still, you have to admit that Georgia's schedule wasn't very tough.

The only really good teams they beat in the 2023 regular season were Ole Miss and Missouri, and both of those games were at home.

Tennessee finished 8-4. Kentucky finished 7-5. Auburn finished 6-6. Georgia Tech finished 6-6. Florida finished 5-7. South Carolina finished 5-7. Vanderbilt finished 2-10.

If Georgia loses to Alabama, and Florida State beats Louisville .... Florida State should get the nod as an undefeated team. There really isn't that much difference between the strength of their schedules this particular season. Finebaum is way off base here.

FSU would get the absolute crap beaten out of them against Bama or Georgia right now. I don’t think it’s a game versus any of the playoff teams. They may get the nod but they’re not close to a playoff team without their qb; hell it’s arguable they’re not a top ten team much less a top four team.

Maybe so, but that speculation shouldn't be enough for a 1 loss team to get the nod over an undefeated team .... when they played comparable schedules, which they did. The reality is, Georgia's 2023 schedule was not much better than Florida State's. If Georgia loses to Alabama, and Florida State beats Louisville .... Florida State should get the playoff birth.

Surely FSU can beat the L'ville team that lost to KY...even with a back up QB...who reportedly will practice some this week for some reason.

Edit: Misleasding article title. He just attended practice.

You all seem to forget that TCU got in last year because (1) they were undefeated and (2) won their conference. FSU if they do the same and there are not 4 other teams with no losses should be in the CFP. That is the way it should work. TCU beat Michigan when no one thought they would.

Keeping my fingers crossed for a scenario where neither Bama and UGA gets in. Can you even imagine the whining that will come from those two schools? I'm ready for it. lol
