You all seem to forget that TCU got in last year because (1) they were undefeated and (2) won their conference. FSU if they do the same and there are not 4 other teams with no losses should be in the CFP. That is the way it should work. TCU beat Michigan when no one thought they would.

Keeping my fingers crossed for a scenario where neither Bama and UGA gets in. Can you even imagine the whining that will come from those two schools? I'm ready for it. lol
Actually, TCU wasn't undefeated, and they didn't win their conference. They lost the Big 12 Championship Game to Kansas State 31-28 in OT ... but they still got into the College Football Playoff, anyway ... simply because they had a better record than Tennessee, Alabama, Kansas State or Clemson. The Playoff Selection Committee seems to value record more than anything else. Very little consideration was given to strength of conference/schedule a year ago.

I understand that Georgia had scheduled to play Oklahoma on the road this season, but the SEC forced them to cancel the game. They did not have time to schedule a quality out-of-conference opponent in Oklahoma's place. So, this wasn't their fault .... but still, you have to admit that Georgia's schedule wasn't very tough.

The only really good teams they beat in the 2023 regular season were Ole Miss and Missouri, and both of those games were at home.

Tennessee finished 8-4. Kentucky finished 7-5. Auburn finished 6-6. Georgia Tech finished 6-6. Florida finished 5-7. South Carolina finished 5-7. Vanderbilt finished 2-10.

If Georgia loses to Alabama, and Florida State beats Louisville .... Florida State should get the nod as an undefeated team. There really isn't that much difference between the strength of their schedules this particular season. Finebaum is way off base here.
I can't remember a time when Georgia had a tough schedule. They are always sandbagging. Personally, I would love to see Bama beat them and both get left out of the final 4. The gnashing of teeth and rending of material objects would be EPIC!!! Screw the SEC for protecting their sacred cows.

But that won't happen. If Bana beats them, they will probably both get in unfortunately. but wait till next year. This whole thing will be even more idiotic.

And Bama took a miracle to beat Auburn. If FSU is undefeated and left out, then it will be confirmed that the whole thing is just a steaming pile of ****.
I disagree, if Fl State gets left out, it means the committee is trying to get the best 4 teams.

Then if it’s going to weigh heavily on record, the SEC just screwed themselves with expansion. I agree last year they proved it was political and not trying to get best teams and if his continues to go more on record then best teams the SEC is screwed.

A lot of years SEC gets 2 teams in out of 4 in CFP-4. If it goes off record, then SEC would only get 3 out of 12 in CFP-12. That would mean going from 50% to 25% post expansion…

In the future, it won't be as big a deal, because there will be a 12 team playoff, which will no doubt be expanded to 16 teams eventually. With that many teams, the SEC should always get 2 teams in.

If Bama beats Georgia they will both get in and I would bet money on it.
Nope Bama beats Ga , Ga is out Period. They have played nobody . Ken, Tenn, Fl, ole miss, Vandy , which all sucked this year. 3 out of conference sisters of the poor and GT. They have ONE quality win Mizzou.

Just watch and see. Georgia will still get in they are the two time defending champs and have won 29 in a row. Bama is the only team that has any shot at beating them and we all know Georgia would beat Oregon , Washington, Michigan and FSU and Texas. I’m no Georgia fan but they have a great case to still get in if they lose a close one to Bama.

FSU would get the absolute crap beaten out of them against Bama or Georgia right now. I don’t think it’s a game versus any of the playoff teams. They may get the nod but they’re not close to a playoff team without their qb; hell it’s arguable they’re not a top ten team much less a top four team.
You don’t think FSU is as good as Auburn?

Texas can beat Ga, might not even get in the playoff at 12-1. They have a QB that knows what he’s doing with a defense. Yes this same Texas team that beat Ala @ Ala. Just saying. Ga out if they lose. Oregon , Wash, FSU waste of spots . But 2 of them will get in. Oregon most overated team of them all.

I don't know about Michigan. If you can lose to Alabama, you can lose to Michigan.

Well .....

In 2024, they will play :

Clemson .... at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta
@ Alabama
@ Texas
@ Ole Miss
Florida .... in Jacksonville, Florida
Tennessee .... in Athens
Auburn .......... in Athens

Depending on how good Tennessee and Florida turn out to be, that might end up being the toughest schedule in the country next year .... So, there is that.

That if Alabama beats Georgia, they should both be in the playoffs. Sorry FSU, your ACC championship doesn’t mean you are one of the four best teams in the country, and that’s the purpose of the playoffs. He calls the ACC championship game is for a participation trophy.
If Michigan, FSU and Washington all win then they’re in. Yea FSU lost their QB but it will set a bad precedent leaving out an undefeated P5 school due to injury. I also think if Bama wins and FSU loses then it’s Bama and Texas getting in. Texas 3 and Bama 4. I do believe that if any of the undefeateds are gonna lose it’s gonna be Washington.

The committee will have a difficult decision to make if there are two 12-1 SEC teams. I submit that the fairest solution would be to leave them both out.
The only difficult decision comes is if there are no undefeated teams. UGA and Bama are not making it in.

Traditionally, they’ve never played Ala, or LSU regularly. They never played Tennessee regularly until starting in 1992. Even Dooley played weak SEC schedules but they did play Clemson & Ga Tech regularly

Can you imagine the hellscape this place would have been a year ago, if Tennessee had beaten South Carolina ... but been left out of the CFP just because we had lost Hooker to an injury? VN would have crashed from the outrage.

Florida St. with there backup QB is definitely NOT a lock. They barely survived Florida.
On the other hand, bama barely survived Auburn with their best, first string QB.
Kudos to FSU for being able to do that.

FSU knew the risks of joining the ACC in terms of an overall drop in their annual SOS. In a sense it's part of the reason they did it. Then Miami went downhill. And now Clemson has taken a dive. I won't shed a tear for a problem of their own making.

Do you think even they have regrets over it? This ultimately is all about money, of course, more so than winning (although those things do go together). If they were in the SEC, even as a mediocre team that wasn't competing for conference or national titles, they'd be making more money.

I find it hilarous how the narrative has switched....what happend to "the regular season is a playoff". Now it's "Well they're still better than the other team."

What about Texas? They beat Alabama head to head, AT Alabama. Does that not matter? Why are playing the games then.

People bellyache about expanding the playoffs and crap like this is why I fully support it.
