It's not Fulmer's fault we fumbled twice inside their 10. And we all know if we would have won that game this topic wouldnt even be though of so...

No, but discipline(and I don't mean the off the field stuff) and fundamentals (ie: holding on to the ball) are his responsibility.

IMO, he's not that much better than anyone else with a top 10 program. If he could coach instead of wishing he had some magic dust, he would be the best recruiter out there. Talk about orange colored glasses, Fulmer is the most over hyped recruiter out there. A $65,000,000 budget, facilities, and a winning record is what draws them in. We are just keeping our head above water in the winning dept compared to other top 10 programs. If we changed the winning part and consistently beat other top 10 teams..we would be competing with the likes of USC every year for the #1 class.

Agreed D1 prospects don't grow on trees in Tenn, but no one, not Fulmer, not Sanders, not Chavis, no one is irreplacable. Some may be foolish for calling for so many heads, but if CPF can recruit the country, there are several coaches out there who can do it. The facilities and the stadium do stand out, and are excellent recruiting tools.

To act like CPF cannot be replaced is stretching it as well. I personally do not want to see it come to that, but I do want more honesty and emotion from CPF. He made this NC bed. He needs to sleep in it. He needs to explain why he thought we would be in the Rose Bowl this year, and why they have fallen so far so fast.

I want more than:

We just didn't execute
The effort was there
We just made silly mistakes
RS is my illigitimate child.....

You need a reality check.  UT is not FSU, UM, USC, or Texas. Tennessee produces VERY little in state d-1 prospects...Fulmer gets them in from elsewhere.  There are plenty of other schools that have facilities just as good or better than UT's and they have loads of talent in thier back yards.  UT is not a school kids from Florida, California, Georgia or Texas grow up dreaming to play for.  Whether you think Fulmer is a good coach or not, he IS a great recruiter, and is widely recognized as such.

So you really believe that:

1) If Neyland stadium seated 50k or 60k instead of 100k+

2) If our fan base wasnt the largest in the country

3) and our athletic budget wasnt the largest in the nation:

4) and we didnt have some of the plushest athletic dorms,
indoor practice stadiums, and weight training facilities in
the nation

that Fulmer would still be recruiting top classes in the nation?

NO WAY!

Look at Majors! He was recruiting great here at Tennessee before he got fired. He left Fulmer with a loaded team. But look what he did recruiting wise at Pittsburgh after he left UT!!?? He did NOTHING. Thats because he didnt have the facilities here to recruit with! Its obvious! Wouldnt you rather play in front of a 100k instead of 60k!!!??

Did I say any of that? No I did not. What I said was that Fulmer is one of the best recruiters in the country. That is common knowledge in the college football world. I don't understand what makes some of you beleive that UT can bring in the recruits based on facilities and Winning percentage alone. There are many other programs with equal or better facilities and hot beds of talent in state, but some of you act like UT is superior to all other college football programs and that is just not the case. I am not saying that no one else could recruit at UT because of course that is not true, but what I am saying is that Fulmer is a great recruiter and does it better than most can. UT consistently brings in top classes and bring in 90% of that talent from out of state. Look at the majority of the top programs (The Florida schools, Texas, The california schools) they have in state talent, something Tennessee just does not produce, but Fulmer (not facilities) still gets them here.

Would you like some cheese to go with that whine?  Everyone has off years and this is our year...2002 wasn't a great year either....If you want him gone so much why don't you go and complain to the AD about it?  Write them a letter and let them know about it....You aren't doing much about it sitting on the internet whining about it...:thefinger:

The last 7 years the program has been on a steady decline.. There is no discipline on the field or off..All you need to do is look at Notre Dame. Same players as last year, they are disciplined on and off the field and a first year college head coach that has turned the program around..Discipline lies within the coaching staff, player developement lies within the coaching staff, are you going to tell me that Notre Dame has more talent than Tennessee?
