Fire Mike Hamilton (merged)

"Summer's Eve" Hamilton is a disgrace. He has single handedly dismantled the football program from always sold out to walk up and buy status. They are still trying to give away FL tickets! He ruined the baseball program and now the basketball program is heading to the dump. We MUST have a new AD ... NOW!

so Neyland was always sold out up until 2003?

were you upset with the hire of Pearl or are just having a knee-jerk reaction to the news and blaming MH?

I will also never judge the UTAD on his baseball hire and doubt very many will either

Idiots in this thread....

Raleigh has recruited well despite being a terrible coach. I wanted him fired this year, but I like the players he has brought in. When he leaves the program will be in better shape than when he took over. Delmonico had them with the equivalent of a loss of 15 scholarships in football...crippling.

Done nothing for track? He inherited an asbestos filled crap hole. He will go down as the best person for track facilities since Tom Black.

But, more profoundly, as the AD that allowed his coaches to run amok and get the basketball and football programs sanctioned.

And, as the AD that inherited a top-5 football program and road it into the abyss.

These alone should spell the end.

Really, they are giving them away?

I'll take four... Please..

This NCAA investigation, which is now apparently multi-faceted, is no laughing matter. The handwriting is on the wall, and it does not look good for UT. Plain and simple.

- Derek Dooley will end up being the coach who saw UT through a very trying time, including the loss of scholarships and post-season bans...and return UT Football to it's proud traditions and national prominence. In four to five years. Maybe three.

- Bruce Pearl apparently can't remember who he's married to, or who he talked to. Thanks for raising the bar with UT hoops, Bruce...and thanks for helping put UT squarely in the NCAA's sights. Bruce Pearl should be on the next flight back to "CalipariLand". He fits there.

- I wouldn't waste a good "rail" on Mike Hamilton. Simply put him on the next Greyhound bus headed out of Knoxville. Give the driver $100, and tell him to kick Hamilton out when he's ridden that far. Hopefully, it will be somewhere near Lane Kiffin.

- ...who is the "gift that keeps on giving". It matters not to the NCAA that Kiffin is at USC now. He was here, with his merry band of rule-breakers, when all this started, and UT will pay...dearly, I'm afraid...for having hired the coaching equivalent of Gordon Gecko.

- And you can say what you want about his final years as a head coach, but the one thing that Phil Fulmer has in abundance is integrity and honesty...and right now, that is EXACTLY what UT Athletics needs.

I'm just sayin'.....watch the cards fall.

Go Vols.

Do you care to put money on your assertion that football and basketball will be sanctioned by the NCAA?

Bye Bye Hambone, Now You're Gone! (To paraphrase the Pink Sexies).

The spectre of "Lack of Institutional Control" now looms over UT should any football related shenanigans come to light. But hiring Kiffin was reason enough.

Do you care to put money on your assertion that football and basketball will be sanctioned by the NCAA?

Given the steps UT has already taken in the BB program...and given the fact that Lane Kiffin thumbed his nose at the NCAA...do you honestly believe that UT will get a simple slap on the wrist from the NCAA?

We might get off relatively easy from "Hostess Gate"...but with the football, basketball, and baseball programs under the NCAA microscope, I'm far more worried about "Lack of Institutional Control" than I am about losing 10 bucks to you.

If that were not the case, I'd PayPal the money to you this minute, to avoid NCAA sanctions.

I'm a Vol Fan. Born, raised, and rabid. I am also able to tell when there's a fox in the henhouse, and right now, UT athletics has feathers flying out the windows.....

Still...Go Vols.

Hope you're wrong. actually today I don't really care, how about we just enjoy the game? No offense my man.:good!:

Kiffin was a lying scumbag, but he was not stupid.

Football will have ZERO major violations.

And no, the NCAA will not find LOIC when our basketball program just levied some of the most serious penalties internally ever given because of a first time secondary violation.

People seem to not understand the NCAA very well...

If we had gone to the mat under Fulmer (instead of being exempted thanks to Kenny Smith and the Alabama take down) then we would be in a lot more trouble. The NCAA gives you chances before they come down REALLY hard and we are at strike 1 for Bruce Pearl and strike zero for Dooley.

An attorney they feel like they can trust who has 21 less secondary violations this year than Ohio State? That is going to keep football way out of trouble.

IF/When Calipari gets in trouble, it will be a big deal if the underlying offense is a big deal (like bags of cash from WWW to UK recruits or family) but otherwise even he will get off lightly compared to Sampson or Harrick because he has not been in trouble before.

The NCAA works alot like the criminal law system. Your first DUI is going to be allowed to be plead down to a reckless driving unless you hurt someone. Your third DUI? Even a great lawyer probably cannot keep you out of jail for a while.

I hope I'm wrong, too...but I fear I'm not. And no offense taken.

Where in GA? PM me. I'm at FLETC. If you're close enough, we'll watch a UT game at a good pub.

Personally, Mike Hamilton has to eat his own cooking. He was on watch when all this crap happened...he should stand accountable for it.

Let's not make the same mistake we made with Fulmer, and pull the plug two years too late. At least two years too late.

Go Vols.

It is certainly not looking very good for Hamilton.

You'd think we were a college program from Florida judging from the embarrassing string of headlines the last couple of years. From gun possession to bar fights to ncaa violations to armed robbery... If there is not any immediate and substantial improvement expect to read a headline that states "Hamilton Out... Finally".

I feel sorry for the guy. He has done a few good things.....the stadium renovation for instance. However, his ace-in-the-hole, Bruce Pearl, has sunk MH's ship. He should have fired him immediately and beggy the NCAA for leniency. Now both, plus the whole UT BB program will be slammed.

Chillax. What can be built can be torn down and can be built again. MH may be doomed and BP perhaps too, but UT athletics can recover as long as there is support and will.

I don't understand why people "Feel Sorry" for him. Fact is he makes three figures because of the risk associated with the decisions he makes. If you or I had made the decisions that ended with our companies performance being where we are as a football program our asses would have been handed to us a lot sooner.

I don't.

I could care less about bricks around Neyland if the football team playing in it is an SEC bottom dweller. Hamilton has run a clown show since he took over.

I am glad he didnt fire Bruce! Suppose we do get on sanctions. there is no guarantee letting pearl go would change that. i say let bruce work this out. I am a long time bball fan who was one of the 3,000 or less at every game while we were perrenial losers. I do not want to go back to that. If we have some tough years for sanctions, so be it. Pearl has EARNED the right to fix this. As for hamilton i could care less if that dude survives or not.
