Fire Mike Hamilton (merged)

I don't see Hammy being fired until UT hires a president. I am sure the president would want to make the decision on the AD.

ok... well get ready to have your butts blown off... i have defended mike hamilton sense fulmer was fired. i thought he made good hires and alot of the time he caught a bad break. he got blamed for fulmer letting the program tumble and i thought that wasint fair. but after this bruce pearl thing.... sorry hammy but ya gotta go.l we need to hire someone who is going to clean the swamp...im tired of this. oviously the NCAA is like on a massive power trip that happens every 10 years or so and so now is not the time to cheet...jesus....fire hammy and get someone who knows how to keep people in line...

Hamilton saying that Dooley was his first choice is beyond ridiculous. Does he think we are a bunch of morons?

We must be, Because Hammy is still in charge

Notice the first thing he did was take away about half a million a year from BP for something that looks like slap on the wrist. Then when the numbers are crunched for the Athletic dept. next year it shows TN was one of only few schools to make profit. Coincidentally by about half a million a year. The big bean counters congratulate Hammy for turning a profit and give him a raise. Hammy is the new Slick Willy!

This thread is unnecessary, I think it is common knowledge that Hamilton is gone! Three strikes and your out is the old saying, and he has like 6. I like him though. Anyone that looks as goofy as him with a salary like that has done something right.

Fail.

UT is better off with Hamilton at AD. He's done a tremendous job supporting all aspects of TN athletics. He's a business guy and makes decisions that are beneficial for the university.

It's not on Hammy that Kiffin and Co. cut and run. It's not easy making a solid hire with only a few days to close. Time, and hence negotiating power, are not on your side.

For the record, I think the Dooley hire was wise. Success at one program doesn't guarantee success at another. And vice versa.

CDD seems to fit the profile of the kind of guy we need at the helm after the current debacle. Let's see what kind of staff can be assembled and go salvage this recruiting class.

These Hamilton rants are tiresome.
Obviously being in DC has tainted your view on success and wisdom. While Derek Dooley MIGHT be a great hire, it would be the stroke of luck, not management. When Lame told "Summer's Eve" Hamilton that IF Pete Carrol went to the NFL he would be a candidate, Hamilton went to Colorado. There was no plan and clearly no strategy. That is pi$$ poor management. PERIOD. He then had to react instead of act. Pi$$ poor management II.

Under "Summer's Eve" leadership, the track/field program hasn't done anything. Baseball has fallen. Basketball has become tainted. The athletic department has become home for thugs enticed by semi-pro hookers. Football has gone from a perenial program that was always sold out to a walk-up and buy tickets program that will play homecoming games for pay.

If he is not fired, the entire program should be investigated to find out who he has pictures of with a goat.

All good points and you'll still find people on here that say he's done a great job. A great job of screwing up stuff. Football is down. Basketball, his saving grace is now tainted. They should have cleaned out his office last night and changed the locks.

Hamilton likes to take chances, and this is what I like about him most. He took a chance last year with Kiffin, it didn't pan out. He took another chance by hiring Dooley and hopefully that'll have a better outcome. He took a chance hiring Pearl, and he took our basketball program further in the NCAA tournament then ever and is getting top 50 recruits to consider TN now. I really think the basketball violations are being taken way too seriously and calling the program "tainted" is a huge stretch.

Hamilton could have went the safe route and got a proven older coach that has tons of experience at a Div 1 A program. Instead, he goes out and gets up and coming coaches that have a lot of excitement surrounding them. I hope he stays for a long time.

Sounds about right. I agree :good!:

1. He took no chance hiring Pearl. It was Grunfeld's recommendation and had it turned out badly, he would have blamed Grunfeld. Now that he has ridden the carousel of success and "claimed" Pearl, he is going to have to share the blame for any issues.
2. He could not have hired a proven coach for football. He wasted his chance by not starting talks BEFORE Lame K officially took the USC job.
3. If he stays for a long time, tickets will become worthless for years to come. Even if Derek Dooley succeeds (and I truly believe he will), "Summer's Eve" will find a way to screw it up with some kind of money grab.

"Summer's Eve" Hamilton is a disgrace. He has single handedly dismantled the football program from always sold out to walk up and buy status. They are still trying to give away FL tickets! He ruined the baseball program and now the basketball program is heading to the dump. We MUST have a new AD ... NOW!

is today sold out?

MH has to be gone. I don't see how he will convince the boosters that he is worthy of the job after the new UT president is named.

Just my two cents.
