Fire Pruitt tonight

It is more than the Qb.
Of course there are problems elsewhere, but we'd have won with a decent QB.

Oline and dline actually played significantly better than last week. Credit for that is completely lost thanks to JG and a horrendous coverage bust (which incidentally has become a UT specialty the past several years).

It amazes me that people think being up 16-13 vs a .500 type BYU team, at home, was somehow good and that we only lost because of a busted coverage. No, we should never have been in that close a game with BYU. We got made a fool of in overtime as well. We stunk it up the entire game. We got lucky as hell on that first td pass when Guarantano fired the ball into triple coverage and we got a lucky bounce to Jennings. I have no idea why certain parts of this fanbase can't admit a coach is pure garbage. For gosh sakes, if anyone can spot a garbage coach it should be UT fans.

Coverage bust is 100 percent coaching. The lackluster effort on the last play negates every good thing the defense did during the game and also owned by the coaches.

Much more than that and it was BYU, a team we should have beat by three touchdowns with good coaching.

If we had decent play from qb we possibly win by that much. One Int with 2 guys open to his right. Late on countless plays. One of his TD was a tipped pass that Jennings was able to bail him out on.

We may not lose all of them but enough that we can not be competitive long term with the SEC elite teams.
Don't you mean short term? Look at the argument--it should impact the short term, not the long term. We lose current recruits---affect the short term. Is logic still taught? Signing off for another Volunteer fun Saturday. G'night.

Both- Long term recruiting will be affected by short term recruiting and improvement on the field. It is not hard to understand ( for most anyway).

This is pretty much where I’m at. The D at times looked really good and at other times looked lost. There are a couple of bright spots but no Dline depth is killing us. Especially late in the game. The Oline looked decent at times (night and day from last week) and the running game was a positive. Jennings and the other receivers look pretty good. Guarantano looks as lost as last years Easter egg. I’ve given him the benefit of the doubt until tonight. He’s late on every throw. In the flat... the RB is stopped at the sideline before he throws the freaking ball. Late and behind Jennings when wide open in the end zone hurt. When he isn’t playing well, he is pouting. That’s not a leader. Even his two TDs could have just as easily been picks. A change at QB has to happen but I wouldn’t count on it.
I agree. Tonight JG did it for me. His pic set them up with an easy touchdown, he missed on a bunch of open guys and was late when he finally did throw to them. With all that we were still set up to win. The clocks ticking, game almost over, just keep them behind the 50. Why in the hell weren’t the corners backed up. They were man to man and number 2 looked lost and he ultimately sealed the loss for us. JG came out in OT and finished up our loss. I’m pissed

I’m all for playing Maurer and Stout next week. I do not know which one is higher on the depth chart. You have to see what they can do In a real game.

I hope this thread is a joke. Pruitt took over the worst Tennessee team in history and within 2 games of his 2nd year you are calling for his job? I am guessing you never ran a business before. He is still dealing with Jones recruits who don't seem to give a damn whether they win or lose. Let him clean up the mess. I noticed with the exception of a few Jones players that most of the players making plays are Pruitt recruits. We do need a QB change but a coaching change right now is completely asinine.

I think it might be hard to understand for some...the issue was whether tonight's performance would affect long term recruiting. It won't. Tonight may affect short term recruiting. ..It will take more to affect long term at a place like Tennessee. (Your parentheses are cute, but they don't make you smarter).

First off he shouldn’t have gone for it on that last 4th. Take the 3 there. Also, take jg out. He’s trash. Still misalignments on defense, substitution issues. Poorly coached team. And it’s not just tonight, anyone can see he’s in over his head.

Yeah, you would make a hell of a coach. Wouldn't you? That is why you are on here bashing a guy making 4 million a year. Because you have no life and have no clue. Get out of mom's basement and do something productive!

The program has to improve now meaning this year. If it does not , long term recruiting beyond 2020 will be affected. We will also soon see decommitments this year if we continue to regress.

Agree with most of this. CP is not an SEC HC but got to finish this year out and MAYBE Fulmer will fire a 3-9 coach. Hope Mike Leach accepts our apologies or go find some creative FCS coach that can do more with less talent ex. Boise State.(not fcs but its late).

Hard to admit but that is how far we have slipped, unfortunate reality.
