YOu don't think we live in a democracy do you? It has never been a democracy. It is called a Democratic Republic. You elect others to make decisions for you. If our country was a true democracy, we could all vote for Speaker of the House, Sen Maj leader, etc. Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid would be gone so fast your head would spin. I wouldn't vote for either of them and no one I know would as well.

So, gs, Obama lists 24 policy areas....why do you suggest that he is focusing on Civil Rights and Urban Policy on day one....I would think day one looked more like this:

Economy:

* Doubling the production of alternative energy in the next three years.
* Modernizing more than 75% of federal buildings and improve the energy efficiency of two million American homes, saving consumers and taxpayers billions on our energy bills.
* Making the immediate investments necessary to ensure that within five years, all of America’s medical records are computerized.
* Equipping tens of thousands of schools, community colleges, and public universities with 21st century classrooms, labs, and libraries.
* Expanding broadband across America, so that a small business in a rural town can connect and compete with their counterparts anywhere in the world.
* Investing in the science, research, and technology that will lead to new medical breakthroughs, new discoveries, and entire new industries.

the term "assault" weapons always cracked me up, cant all guns be used for an assault? hahaha. if he tries to come after our guns, that new limo they keep talking about will have to be pretty much optimus prime to keep him safe

I thought it specifically referred to weapons that were semi-automatic or semi-automatic versions of automatic weapons used by military infantry.

That's the problem with the word, it's too broad and nonspecific, and by tying it to something as arbitrary as "what the military uses," it loses any credibility with someone wh recognizes the second amendment.

And I agree, it is an oxymoron anyway.

Correct, one of the stated reasons for the public to keep guns was to give Americans the ability to protect themselves and to overthrow oppressive government. If we are not allowed to keep arms that are comparable to those supplied to the armed forces then wouldn't that in effect seriously hinder our ability to do so?

just keep an eye on the House. There's a bill floating around there that considers anything with a "grip" an assault weapon and some ninny has even defined "grip" to include stocks.

then there are those who think anything that can hold 10 rounds or more an "assault" weapon.

look for a bunch of BS regarding bullet imprinting and a tax on each round of ammo purchased plus a gradual phasing out of a shooter's right to load his or her own ammo.

as far as the economic growth stuff is concerned, the best thing DC can do is cut corporate taxes and capital gains taxes on EVERY business. I don't disagree with tax incentives, but Obama's plan picks winners and losers and that shouldn't be up to the government.

this "tax cut to 95% of all Americans" is BS as well. Obama wants to eliminate 16 million people from the tax roles and he'll do that with direct transfer payments to people who already receive more back from the government than they pay in. That's called welfare.

if we ever want to overthrow the government, we seek the help of our oldest enemies before the arabs, before the russians, before the vietnamese, before the koreans, before the germans, before the germans (again) before the spanish, before the mexicans...
