First football commit!

I thought the East was down last year. UGA and UF were replacing a lot. The Vols did not have to play LSU or Aubie in the regular season. The Vols barely beat mediocre SC, Vandy and KY teams and they got beat by two 6-6 teams.

Over the past three years:

Kansas is 25-12 with a BCS win
Wake is 24-13 with a conference championship and a BCS appearance
UTK is 24-14

disclaimer: these are just facts and to the best of my knowledge have nothing to do with Phillip Fulmer's girth.

You thought wrong. UF and UGA may have been replacing people but they were still 2 of the best teams in the country. UGA kicked everyone's ass down the stretch. I wouldn't call SC, UK, or Vandy mediocre teams, not to mention UK and Vandy are both rivalry games and they are gunning for us. One of the 6-6 teams we lost to is Bama and they hate us and they will obviously play their asses off to beat us. The other 6-6 team wanted to beat us more than anyone on their schedule last year after we embarrassed them the year before.

Kansas played no one.
Wake, you know what I'm just going to laugh that you're even making an argument for Wake.

Stop trying to conjure up conspiracies for Fulmer to be fired and come back to reality VH.

The only point you made that I would agree with is that Vandy is not mediocre. The 'Dores are, in fact, bad. Otherwise, everything you posted is emotionally-fueled drivel.

My eyes are open to the reality of the nine-year trend that is UTK football. Blinders are for the folks who want to believe that Phil can do it again. I don't mind if you want to dispense with critical analysis and be a fan with your heart alone. Just don't jump on my case because I refuse to bury my head in the sand.

I'm quite aware of the trends. And I'm not a Fulmer supporter. I want a change as much as you do. But I'm not going to start threads about South Carolina and Kentucky commitments and how Kansas and Wake Forest are now better football programs than us. The former doesn't really concern me, the latter is just ludicrous and everyone knows it. You don't have to bury your head in the sand, but I'd like you much better that way.

If you judge by winning percentage, conference championships, and BCS appearances alone, then Wake and Kansas are more sucessful over the past three years. There is just no arguing with it. That does not mean the Vols couldn't beat those schools head-to-head. A loser in the SEC is still a loser.

Let's look at the records for the last 5 years. 2003-2007

UT: 44-20
WF: 33-28
KU: 35-26

Now who looks better. We've proven more over a longer period of time than they have proven.

Lawyers use the facts. If you have bad facts you can suggest alternative theories and interpretations, but distorting facts is immoral and unethical.

Do you honestly believe lawyers are worried about distorting facts because it is immoral and unethical?

I think you guys may have hit a point of juxtaposition on this. Nobody is going to say that as a static fact Wake & Kansas haven't put up some good years recently but that doesn't address the other guys arguement that they darn sure weren't doing it against SEC competition. You're talking up a 9-4 ACC team that lost to 5-7 Nebraska? A Big 12 team whose biggest regular season victory was over who? Okie St or TX A&M? And that gets them to a BCS game where they played VA Tech? Forget the blinders/head-in-sand debate, in fact leave UTK out of it entirely. It's an apples and oranges debate what those two teams have done in their conferences as opposed to ANY team trying reach those goals in the SEC.

UT: 44-20 .6875 winning pct
UF: 45-18 .714 winning pct
UGA: 51-14 .784 winning pct

Not too far behind either.

fixed it, kind of far behind now

So if you think not winning an SECC despite losing to the number 3 team (04) and number 1 team at the game merits a firing then so be it. You've basically reduced your reasons to firing him as far as record goes to 2 games.
