Well, at bare minimum it gives us an idea of who is impressing CBJ. If a guy still has a black stripe 3 days before kickoff then I'm not expecting much from them in the near future. If it doesn't matter or doesn't mean anything then why do it?

The players determine who gets the stripes removed, not the coaches. Randolph insisted that Cam's get removed last year.

It's great when your 5* running back prospect also works hard enough to be rewarded first among his peers. These four having a stripe removed first spells good things.

Correct... Outside of Downs and Branisel coming in.. VERY thin.. on the 2013 roster you had Ayers and a bunch of walk on's, so Woody had a opportunity to jump out but hasn't

The great thing about this is that all of those guys were somewhat underrated by us fans except for Hurd.

Going in I thought it would be Hurd, Bates, Malone, and TK.

Shows the depth of the class.

For reference, who were the first freshmen to lose their stripes last year? Just wondering if this is a good indicator of who is ready to contribute as a frosh.

So why is everybody laying the wood to Woody Quinn the guy has worked himself up to sixth string TE. That should be worth something.

I would like to see these folks speak this way (up) to Woody's 6-6 face.
The guy apparently works hard, played some last year, has been without issue since arriving, and was a project from day 1. Yet Vol fans trash the kid. Weird IMO.
