How cool! I grew up just outside of pineville, but you probably know you had to go to middlesboro for anything! I'm glad you spelled it the old way also, I usually type it Middleborough, but when I was growing up it was how you typed it! You ever fish cannon creek, Cumberland river, or the old lake mistake? I had good times at those places.
Spinnerbaits are one of the most versitile baits there is for bass fishing. For fishing off the bank I would suggest 3/8 to 1/2 oz in white or white/chartreuse colors. For stained water you need one with a colorado blade. For normal to clear water i like a single or double willowleaf blade. You can fish them multiple ways. The most common is just to throw them out let it sink to the bottom and slow reel it back in. You can also burn them just under the surface for fish chasing bait or breaking.
Recently caught a fish on a crankbait. As I was reeling it in I snagged a paddlefish in 40-50 lb range. Needless to say the fight changed a little.

anytime you can easily add to or manipulate a bait to make it attractive. it saves time and catches more fish. personally i like flipping, and cranking more. but hes right spinnerbaits can be very effective. in fact at times when bass wont touch anything else this is a go to
