Tony Harris was the quickest I ever went against in bball, back in the day. Curious of peoples thought on this comparison.
Tony Harris (in his prime)
vs
Jordan Bone (potential)
In a vacuum, Tony. Their per-40 stats are closer than I thought they'd be, and Bone is maybe a better fit on this current team.
As I recall, Tony Harris was really good as a Freshman. He seemed to regress a bit, and seemed to have a bit of an attitude problem from his second year and beyond.
I'm hoping and expecting that Bone's career goes in the opposite direction. I'm not saying Harris was a bad player. He just didn't live up to my expectations.
Edit: I went back and looked. I did not remember him having that good of a Junior season, or that he scored that many points. Yes, it would be great if Bone had one season like any of Tony Harris' seasons. I'm guessing that won't happen, on a more balanced team.
The difference is that Jerry Green recruited and didnt coach.
Tony Harris was miles better than Jordan Bone.
Give me Tyler Harris . The kid can get buckets whenever he wants
By his own admission, if Tony had been more focused on being a better basketball player than he was his street cred, he'd have had a more successful, memorable career.
The night I watched him run off the bench to fight UK players at their bench when he was sitting out with a supposed ankle injury so severe that he could barely walk, I lost most all respect for him.
I may be putting words in your mouth, but are you saying you'd take Harris today versus waiting on Simons and missing out?
If so, I'd offer this alternate line of thinking. Tennessee is in an enviable position. They return all but one guy next year. Simons is a difference maker next year, whereas Harris probably needs to get stronger and take time to develop. He wouldn't likely be counted on to make an immediate impact. With that in mind, I think Tennessee can afford to wait on Simons, even if that comes at the expense of losing Harris. We aren't going to play 13 deep, so unless the one guy they bring in is an immediate difference maker, any addition next year is probably negligible.

For me there are two questions that need to be answered before knowing what is best.
1) can darrington replace Daniels minutes better than Harris
2) are we in good shape with a better option than harris in rhe 19 class.
If the answer is yes to both then all in on Simons. If not then take Harris now imo

If Simons truly plans to wait until May/June I agree...someone is almost certain to transfer out after the season in late March/Early April. If Simons has said hes going to decide in late March then it gets tricky.
If whats the case? I presented 2 different scenarios?
