Five-star SG Anfernee Simons visiting this weekend

Pops has to sign scholarship papers, he was never coming to UT.

We will never know. Pops didn't have the juice to stop him from verbally committing at his announcement.

Just a week after committing to Tennessee, four-star shooting guard Chris Clarke has decommitted from the Vols and decided he will instead play college basketball at Virginia Tech.

The news that Clarke had decommitted from Tennessee came mere hours after Bleacher Report broke a story that alleges Southern Mississippi is under an NCAA investigation for rules violations that happened during new Vols coach Donnie Tyndall’s time there.

Not surprised you believe the story they told later that it had nothing to do with the investigation.

Regardless he didn’t sign with UT...why do am I highly skeptical that you’d give Barnes credit for landing Petrusev if only days later he was to decomitt and land with the Zags.

I find that very “interesting”.

Tyndall lost him for the same reason he lost everything else.

He had the guy if not for the AA.

Can’t attend a school on scholarship without parents signing, and that wasn’t happening. Again, I’m quite skeptical you’d give Barnes credit for a commit if he was to end up elsewhere, regardless of the reasoning.

You know this how?

One of th rivals guys said it, maybe Bossi...same day he committed he said it likely wouldn’t stick, leading up to his announcement he wasn’t sure what was happening because he was hearing UT but also hearing from family and coaches that Dad wasn’t going to allow that.

Believe it or not, fans have a big big part in the kids impression of TBA and the general basketball program tomorrow. I mean we’re no Arkansas, but maybe we can give him a little excitement and hospitality during his trip to Knoxville.

It will b a major recruiting victory if we lure him away from millions of dollars. He'll take the money and b a rich teenager.

Again, the success rate of undersized SGs who went straight to the NBA from high school is pretty bad. Louis Williams has turned out to be a pretty good NBA player, but he was drafted late in the 2nd rd IIRC, so it would really benefit Simons to go to school for a year. This year's draft is pretty stacked too, and those projections that have him as a 1st rounder don't include many Euro players who always take up spots.

Previously a Louisville commit.

I'm sure he's been discussed somewhere in this forum but didn't see a thread on him.

Thoughts on our chances? Who's the last five star visitor we had?

Anfernee Simons to visit Tennessee | Zagsblog

"I", "I", "I"....

He will do all and make Tennessee great....
As said in Cool Hand Luke "he's a world beater"...... In his own mind. I really have problems with these kids that think "I".

Yea just tell him about other guys failing. That will convince him to give up millions. His draft grade puts him in the first round. If I were him I’d cash in. You never know what’s going to happen tomorrow, so capitalize today.

Way to misrepresent the truth there. His draft grade is anywhere from late first to mid-second, where contracts are not guaranteed. Not exactly a slam dunk decision, and certainly not a reason to just chance it. Trae Young is a perfect example. He'd have been a mid-second rounder if he were able to have gone straight out of high school. A year later, he's a top-10 pick and perhaps national POY.

I am going back further and say this kid could be on the same level as Bernard King or Ernie Grunfeld if he comes to UT.

King averaged 26 points 12 rebounds and was SEC Player of the Year as a freshman. If Simons is half the player King was as a freshman and he plays for us next season, we will be a Final 4 team.

You'd think he wouldn't waste his time visiting colleges then?

I'm guessing you're not considering contract negotiations? Going the college route is leverage. Nothing unusual about it and certainly not a waste of time. You give yourself options while being wined and dined. Smart move IMO.

Lmao what? You’re suggesting he’s in contract negotiations with NBA teams????
