FL CB Damarius McGhee

then why is he going to LSU? Burrow isn’t there anymore.

They won a National Championship last year. Maybe he believes this is a rebuild year and they’ll compete for another one in the next 3-4 years.

He can also flip on the tv and see Derek Stingley being talked about as one of the best DB’s in the country. That def doesn’t hurt.

They’re coming off a National Championship and develops players for the NFL.

Something we haven’t even sniffed since 1998.
Not quite true.... We were sniffing the Natty game in '01 and LSU bit our heels and kept us out.... wow now it just seems even worse

Of all the things a school can do to skirt the rules, why would you risk it with sexual abuse or harassment allegations? This is so idiotically stupid on their part, not to mention the incredible lack of decency by covering up allegations.

This is such an indictment not only on the school, but who they are as people:

Ausberry also told the investigator that when a female student came to him because she had been abused by football player Drake Davis, he told her he “didn’t want to hear anymore” and to talk instead to Segar, who acknowledged never returning the student’s call.

For anyone who doesn’t know who Drake Davis is:

Former LSU wideout Drake Davis arrested again

I listened to an LSU beat writer on Finebaum last week and he described some of the internal problems and one of the biggest (to me) was how Ed and his staff reacted to the players wanting to make a stand for social justice issues. Apparently they felt like he blew them off and it upset many...and then he made several public statements supporting Trump which further alienated players. They had many who opted out...
Don‘t go down the rabbit hole of the pros/cons of BLM or the pros/cons of Trump - I’m not trying to start that thread. I just wonder if that issue - as well as the hints of sanctions - might help us get McGhee to sign...

If you were a HS DB and your aspirations are to play in the NFL and you had to choose between LSU and TN. Which would you choose?

Justin Coleman, and Emmanuel Mosley are both starting CBs in the NFL. Neither were drafted.

LSU puts more guys in lately because they have recruited better talent at the position.
But development wise...UT has been doing just fine.

I'll put it this way. Derek Stingley is Derek Stingley even if he were at Tennessee. Locking everyone else down except Devante Smith.

I get your point but Pruitt and Ansley didn't forget how to coach DB's. Taylor and Thompson wil both likely end up there.
To be fair, Justin Coleman made a nice career in the NFL, but it wasn't because Butch Jones and John Jancek coached him up. Some kids just make it on their own, and in spite of coaching.

I find it hard to believe that Pruitt and Ansley forgot how to coach DBs, too, but far too often we see free runners in the defensive backfield without anyone within 5 yards of them.

I think the real issue is the inability to recruit high end DB’s.
